America's conservative religious leaders, credited with providing the margin of victory for President Bush's re-election, are ready to present the White House with a bill for services rendered.

The list, they say, is a lengthy one, beginning with the nomination of U.S. Supreme Court justices who will overturn the landmark Roe v. I guess what scares me most is our country leaning more towards a Theocracy than a Democracy. Doesn't this definition scare any of you out there? Especially the WordNet definition. If Bush trades demands for votes then we are all up the creek. We might want to do a little reading up on the "Diary of Anne Frank" and start searching for a very nice attic or basement to live. eek!

Theocracy
The*oc"ra*cy, n. [Gr. ?; ? God + ? to be strong, to rule, fr. ? strength: cf. F. th['e]ocratie. See Theism, and cf. Democracy.] 1. Government of a state by the immediate direction or administration of God; hence, the exercise of political authority by priests as representing the Deity.

2. The state thus governed, as the Hebrew commonwealth before it became a kingdom.

I have the same pit in my stomach as when I heard the Taliban government of Afganistan was going to destroy 2 centuries old statues of Budda all those many years ago. This is so not good. I don't want to raise my children here. Funny, my mother's responses to my injuiries about her support for Bush were "I don't want my grandchildren having to wear burkas!" Hummm, but what if they decide they want to?
