Did any of our DC Outsporters get a copy of this homophobic, inflammatory claptrap with their morning paper yesterday? John Aravosis' AMERICAblog reports that Friday's Washington Post distributed a rabidly anti-gay advertising supplement from Grace Christian Church titled "BothSides Magazine".

QUOTE
Proponents of the homosexual lifestyle argue that as race is merely a byproduct of inherited genes, so is homosexuality. The weakness of this position is that people of color reproduce and pass on the DNA that makes the skin brown; however, homosexuals cannot reproduce. If homosexuality is a genetic trait and homosexuals were true to their orientation, the trait would die in the first generation. Nature does not perpetuate homosexuality.
...

The median age of death for a homosexual man without AIDS and with a long-term sexual partner is only 41 years of age... Passing laws that would institutionalize a lifestyle that could cut the lives of our young men by nearly a third is unthinkable. Let your voice be heard by contacting your local congressperson and letting him/her know how sacred marriage is to you.
And so on and on, for 16 mind-boggling pages. In the Washington Post? Unbelieveable and inexcusable. WTF!

Yeah, I got a copy of that. I don't know what the Post was thinking. The insert came from the Grace Christian [sic] Church in Woodbridge VA. I guess as long as bearing false witness is an okey-dokey Christian activity, this political diatribe is just fine.

Their email address is <info@graceofva.org>

Fortunately, it didn't seem to have made it to the website.

Regardless of what the "Grace 'Chrisitan' Church" says, the Washington Post clearly didn't have to distribute their hateful, inflammatory lies. Better to email the Post at mailto:ombudsman@washpost.comombudsman@washpost.com and/or mailto:letters@washpost.comletters@washpost.com.

AMERICAblog carries PDF copies of the offensive publication, and its reader comments log is filled with appropriate outrage and strategies for effective response to the Post. I agree with John Aravosis that it's important to raise absolute hell about this in the mainstream media.

Looks like some kind of sick rebuttal to the Young and Gay in America series. Fair and Balanced!

According to a follow-up piece in Editor & Publisher, the Post received "more than 1,000 e-mails and phone calls... overwhelmingly negative about distributing this thing," but they cast the controversy in terms of "public issue... public debate... point of view," and pointedly ignore the publication's gay-baiting, fear-mongering and outright lies.

AMERICAblog urges further action. Agreed...

"public issue... public debate... point of view,"

So I guess that means that if someone wants to include a copy of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" in an upcoming press run, that will be just fine with the Post. I mean, they're only helping to provide a "point of view."

Glad that's settled.

Evidently, this has made it to something of the mainstream media, internet media anyway. Maybe someone can scrape together some money and put in a more... acurate advert.

So the gays have gotten the attention of thee GOD. That is pretty impressive since most prayers go unanswered. I think of how many "offering baskets" they had to fill for that one insert.

Today's Letters to the Editor in the Post, ripping them a new one: 'Magazine' Was an Advertisement for Hate

Their ombuds column appears every Sunday, but he skipped last week -- due to Thanksgiving? It will be interesting to read his comments tomorrow, which will surely deal with the matter...

There was an Ombudsman column in today's Washington Post. It made no mention of the supplement.
