How dare the Red Sox go on Queer Eye.. rolleyes.gif
QUOTE
It is startling that those in the media and academia appear most disturbed by this aberrant behavior, since they have zealously promoted moral relativism by sanctioning \"private\" moral matters such as alternative lifestyles. Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture. When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm.

Why do I get the feeling that Sanitarium and (Mayor) Jim West would be best buds? rolleyes.gif

Oh right! I guess Dick Santorum was prescient, or we were negligent in not duly noting it before. smile.gif

I adjusted my initial commentary. If we have discussed this article then I hope the moderator can move this to the appropriate thread.

OMG -

I really CAN NOT BELIEVE he wrote that...

"Most importantly, I hope this crisis in the clergy will remind the laity of the call of Vatican II, a call the Pope has re-echoed throughout his incredible papacy"

The man has no sense of Irony - or an incredible sense of deceit.

The thing(s) that annoy me about this are:

1) it was the CONSERVATIVE, REPUBLICAN-LEANING members of the church heirarchy which perpetuated the problem of child molestation and obstruction of justice within the Boston Archdiocese;

2) Santorum is playing a game that is very similar to blaming the victim. What's next? Blaming the people of San Francisco for being liberal when rapes occur there?

3) Santorum is being criticized in the editorial pages of the Globe this week and he refuses to speak to the paper, claiming the resurrection of this article is all politics. True, but wasn't the issuing of the article pure politics? Santorum used the original article to do nothing more than swipe at liberals by blaming them for the church crisis. Sorry, that adds nothing to the debate over solving the matter and serves only to score political points among your most right-wing supporters (i.e., it was political).
