Attention baseball fans in the DC area -- the travelling exhibit of relics from ther HoF has arrived at the Smithsonian.

There's the historic -- the "Doubleday" ball and Shoeless joe's shoes; and the Hollywood -- "Wonderboy" from The Natural.

Sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon-- here's a Washington Post article about it -- even if it comes wrapped in the puke-inducing name of "Baseball As America."

Hmmm...might have to squeeze in a trip to DC sometime this summer.

Move over Cooperstown -- come on in Pittsfield, Mass.

"The city released a 213-year-old document ... they believe is the earliest written reference to baseball.

The evidence comes in a 1791 bylaw that aims to protect the windows in Pittsfield's new meeting house by prohibiting anyone from playing baseball within 80 yards of the building."
