Now, Alphonse D'Amato (so consider the stupid source) has called for Bush to dump Cheney and replace him with John McCain. McCain has said "it'll be a cold day in Gila Bend" before he runs for VP. I doubt Bush would dump Cheney before the election (loyalty being all-important to the Bush folk & Cheney's appeal to the puritanical extreme of the Republican party) but wonder if there is discussion of a change of VP among the Republican power brokers.
