Jim -

I don't think the system is picking up my points for this week. Without Monday's game, I have 7 wins for week 9. Under "This Week's Leaders" "View Complete List" number 33 is blank for a name, but has 7 wins. I wouldn't mind, but I've been in the running for the Season Leaders. I have 78 (through week 8) without the 7 points, with the 7 points I'd move into a 3-way tie for 4th. I make picks in a Yahoo group so I can send proof of my picks if you want.

Can you check into this. Thanks.

Jim,

I took New England in Monday's night game, so I should have 8 points for week 9. On the View Weeks Leaders section for this week, #25 does not have a name and has 8 points. I think that is supposed to be me. Is it possible to fix this error. My season point total would then be 86 which puts me in a tie for 4th place, only 3 points off first. Can you check on this please.

Thanks.
curtj
Woah. I'm crossing my fingers that the tiebreaker actually went my way.
Jim at Outsports
Curt is our winner. Congrats to him!

Stinger, send a copy of your Week 9 picks to mail@outsports.com and I will see what I can do.

There seems to be a problem with the Picks page. I have tried to revise my picks several times for Week 11, but when I press submit, it brings up an error report and my picks are not revised when I go back and check them. frown

Bill:
I am not getting the same error. Try again and if you get an error, copy it and send to:
mail@outsports.com

thanks!

Jim,

I just sent you the error report i'm getting. What happens is that when I hit "Submit", it switches to another screen that usually says "Your Picks are Confirmed" or something like that. Instead it doesn't say anything and if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, it has the error report I just e-mailed to you.

Thanks for your help!

billsf - the same thing has happened to me the last two weeks. i can't revise my picks after submitting the initial picks. it is as you described regarding not being able see or get confirmation.
Jim at Outsports
I do know there are issues with people who use Macs.

To be safe, if you keep getting errors, e-mail us your changes and we will input them. Make sure you give us your correct user name.

Thanks!

Bill:
Got this from our Admin:

"There was no Sunday tiebreaker amount entered. I fixed it though. I put 35 into that one as well."

Try to go in and fix the tiebreaker and see what happens.

Jim
billsf
Well, it seems to be working now. I know that I had entered a Sunday tie-break amount, but anyway...as long as it's working now. Thanks!
Jim at Outsports
For some reason, you must enter a second tiebreaker again if you want to change your picks. You will see the first tiebreaker still filled in, but the second one blank. If you keep it blank that's when you'll get an error.
Jim at Outsports
This week's winner is Skoozle, who went 14-2, and won on the tiebreaker.

Check out his profile.

I have been picking so horribly that I really didn't fully explore the fact that I could end up in a tie-breaker, and predicted a 69 point game between the Steelers and 49ers last night. What can I say? I was thinking: 49ers 38 Steelers 31! frown

Hey:
Because of the Thanksgiving Day games, you all need to make all of your picks by noon EST on Thursday.

Since we give away weekly prizes, it's not too late for newcomers to sign up.

Pat125 is this week's winner. He nailed the total points for the MNF game exactly (41). Congrats.

We have made viewing your picks easier. The ones you get correctly are now listed in red; the incorrect ones in strikethrough.

We have a great race for the overall title.
Cattledog
Way to go, Pat! It is nice to see a fellow Yankee fan win something!
Joe in Philly
Good job, Pat! wink

I only had 7 right this week. eek!
pat125
Thanks Jim, Cattledog, and Joe. I finally won an Outsports pick 'em contest! Cattledog, I admire your loyalty about always picking the Aggies, something I didn't do with the Jets this week, and it almost cost me. Although we both are Yankee fans, I understand you're not big on the Jets.

I found a glitch in the pick 'em game this week. I just rechecked my picks, and it said that I picked all the away teams. Then when I checked a few others, it said the same thing.
phillyrunner
Something is wrong with the pick system, I checked my picks and all away games were chosen. What is up with that?
Joe in Philly
Mine looked like that earlier. It's now okay.
Jim at Outsports
I think there was a hiccup in how picks were displayed, because they were all OK in the database. Everyone's records should be accurate.

If Miami beats Philadelphia on Monday night, we will have our wildest finish yet. Five people finished 14-1 on Sunday, but all took Philadelphia, so if the Eagles win, these five will go to the tiebreaker.

However, if Miami wins, any one of 21 people who went 13-2 can still pull it out.

I've resisted posting here until now...

Last week, I was ranked as high as 5 in the rankings for the whole season, but I totally BIFFED my picks and my ranking plummeted.

Before the Giants debacle (what the hell was I thinking?!?????) last night, I had climbed back up to 9, but now I'm down to 18. UGH! Raise your hand if you feel my pain.
LACharlie
This competition keeps me from gambling - lol! It is interesting that no one is able to consistently pick a high percentage of winners week-to-week, and that everyone goes into slumps. I am a stats freak and, after the season, I intend to go through and see if there is any pattern in my going wrong. I am conscious of betting on Doug Flutie - lol! - but I'm sure I have other quirks that throw me off.
Jim at Outsports
We had our closest result yet. Five people tied at 13-3 and in the Monday night tiebreaker, two people--Matt from St. Louis and Ed from LA--guessed 49 points (actual was 48). It went to the second tiebreaker, and Ed's 52 points was one closer than Matt's 53 (actual was 48). Ed is our winner.

Get your picks in for the final week.
billsf
Final week???? We're not playing this through to the Super Bowl? That's the way we played it before, all the way through!
Joe in Philly
There aren't enough playoff games each week to break ties easily. Perhaps a separate playoff contest is in order?
Jim at Outsports
Our final Pick Em winner is PCC, who went 13-3 and won on a tiebreaker.

Our season-long winner is msbsfo, who won by one game over LA Charlie. It was a spirited battle down the stretch.

Thanks everyone for playing all season. We will be back next season, even better.

We welcome any suggestions on improvements or any comments. We hope people had fun playing.
Joe in Philly
A late-season rush put me into a tie for 33rd, 15 games behind the winner. Since there were only 14 games during week 7 when I stupidly forgot to make my picks, the best I could've done mathematically was a tie for 2nd. But based on what games I figured to pick that week (from my earlier post) I would've probably had 8 wins that week, which would have left me tied for 12th. Oh well.
canmark
So what did msbsfo win for winning the Outsports Pick 'Em crown?

Despite not knowing much about the NFL, I finished 31st overall and am quite pleased with myself.
LACharlie
I want to congratulate msbsfo for winning the pick-em contest, as well as the others who made it through a grueling season - lol! I promise to be back next year with an even better performance, but for now it's enough to be able to lord it over Jim and Cyd until 9/04 <G>

What might be even more amusing would be a pre-season pick for the whole schedule - how humiliating could that be!

That was a lot of fun and thanks to Jim and Cyd for putting it together!!
