For a man to poke fun at a claim he made that has cost hundreds of Americans and thousands of Iraqis their lives is wrong! He refuses to accept blame, but he'll make fun of it. Somebody needs to tell the fratboy that college is over. This man is a son of a bitch!

Next thing you know, the Simian Samurai will be making fun of dead GI's.

Punk. A$$. Chump.

Oh My Gawd! I can understand some of the other things that he made fun of (like his lack of familiarity with world leaders), but making fun of the fact that he was wrong about WMDs??!!
eek!

These soldiers went out there and gave their lives believing that they were protecting the world from a nuclear holocaust!

THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER, Mr. President!!!

I guess we can expect a claim any day now that The White House had nothing to do with this video.

Yeah, Richard Clarke must have made it.

So this idiot chickenhawk goes to war over a pack of lies, thousands of innocent people are killed and now he's making fun of the fact there were no WMD's, hilarious! rolleyes.gif

Maybe Bush can come up with some video footage of those Iraqi kids getting their heads blown off by our troops, hey there's got to be a joke in there somewhere.

Just called and the receptionist was very polite and acknowledged that they have received many calls about the video. (I was surprised to get a live person).

Good for you! I got a similar polite person. I feel bad that they have to field these calls for the immature antics of the Punk Ass Chimp.

Did any of you watch the whole presentation?

Or did you miss the part where he soluted the men and women of the armed services?

You know where he showed a picture of the covert dudes and told the story of how they burried a piece of the WTC and had a ceremony...

sorry guess you guys missed that part.

Oh, the hypocrisy! rolleyes.gif The point is that he is mocking the reason he told America why we were going to Iraq. The burial of the WTC wreckage was in Afghanistan...not in Iraq -- the place he LIED about.

There was nothing wrong with his speech and comedy presentation.

Are you guys really that surpised by ANYTHING Chimpy does?? The man is a complete ass****.

You guys are making way too big of a deal about what occured at this dinner. I'm as anti-Bush as anyone on this board, but you are totally taking what occurs annually (this was the dinner's 60th year), and did again last night, out of context.

Guys, where's the public outrage? Com'on, why aren't the news wires and Bush's political opponents all over this?

You want to know why? They have the proper perspective on this annual dinner. My goodness, the President was having fun at his own expense.

How Bush can keep the media in stitches

Listen, I want this guy defeated in November, just like everyone else, but jeez, you are blowing this completely out of proportion.

Now, it's time for me to have lunch...

TRANSCRIPT - President's Remarks at Correspondents' Dinner

Coyote - excellent post. I can't think of a more pathetic excuse for a leader than this President. But, c'mon -- are we going to run him down for everything? I think by doing this the more substantive criticism gets watered down and the message is seen as anger.

Let's pound the guy on those things that really matter - 565 dead soldiers, turning Iraq into an incubator for terrorism, 3 Million lost jobs, a total lack of concern for environmental issues, a complete disregard (and contempt)for civil rights...not a silly speech.

Let's see, Synder is stupid, arrogant, reckless but is he a liar?
RazorbackTX
I do agree that Chimpy can be funny at these kind of events but the WMD thing seems pretty unseemly considering the number of folks who lost their lives or limbs over his ignorance.

Maybe this would have been funnier: Chimpy looking under furniture saying: "Those 3 million jobs have got to be somewhere," or maybe "That surplus has to be here somewere."

If I remember correctly, President Clinton used to have a good time making fun of himself. Heck, even President Reagan used to do it.

BUT. And I mean BUT. There are some things, especially things that are still exposed wounds, that are better left alone.

I do not like President Bush. I beleive that he has brought the world closer to a nuclear disaster than any president since Kennedy.

But that dinner is meant for the President to make fun of himself.

I just think the idiot used the wrong topic.

Why not just call him Homer Simpson and be done with it.

So much for trying to be politically correct.

Com'on people... it was an audience of the press. Where are the scathing editorials? Right! Maybe one by the Washington Post, but where's the avalanche of outrage?

Zippo...

The press laughed and appauled at the President making fun of himself over the WMD fiasco (read the transcript).

I hate Bush. In my mind he's the anti-Christ. But let's let this one go. We only make ourselves look like whiney losers bitching over this one. There's no substance here.

Bobby, you probably have good intentions, but I would be willing to bet that you are one of onl'y a handful to phone the White House.

It (appauled) was the result of several Long Island Iced Tea's, Rumplemiz shots, and Jager Bombers. Good catch.

I'm about as likely to get an accurate poll result on CNN as I would on FOX News.

CNN = Liberal
FOX News = Conservative
MSNBC = Somewhere in between

Listen. The audience was full of people from the press. If this was as big a gaffe as people on this thread are making this out to be, where are the critical editorials (outside of the Washington Post)? Why the laughs and applause from the press, if it were so offensive?

Unless there are an avalanche of articles on Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning, this is basically a non-event, except for the drama queens on this board.

I hope the Kerry people make a commercial for his campaign out of a clip of that Jackass making a joke of the non-existent WMDs. And Condi should be publicly horsewhipped for refusing to testify under oath. The arrogance of this crowd. Where's my switch?
RazorbackTX
I think Lt. AWOL should take his comedy act on the road - over to Walter Reed Hospital. Im sure the men and women who lost arms, legs, and other chunks of their bodies would think this was hilarious.

This story does seem to have some legs. Yesterday it was the main subject on local talk radio, and there were mentions of it on the network morning news shows today.

I tend to agree with coyoteugly's take on it. It was in very poor judgement, but the guy was trying to make fun of himself, not the whole military situation and loss of lives. One caller on the radio yesterday pretty much summed it up: "If Bush loses the election, I don't think he's going to say 'If only I hadn't made those WMD jokes at that dinner...'"
bobby78751
Last night on "News Night with Aaron Brown", Aaron asked John King about the pubic response the White House had gotten yesterday about the WMD video and John reported that The White House is defending the Punk Ass Chimp's decision to make a joke about WMDs and there was not even a hint of an apology. The arrogance of this White House is unbelievable. The word "sorry" is not in their already-limited vocabulary.

I went to dinner last night with a few friends and they were all talking about this issue. I told them that I didn't see it as a major issue and they made the same point Razor made in an earlier post -- there is a bunch of other material the guy could have found to joke about. I think they're right -- it's about sensitivity and arrogance.
hockeyTom
Raze, I agree with you my friend. I think the chimp, and Cheney need to take this "comedy" on the road, a la the on the road movies with Bing Crosy, in Morocco etc. etc. wink

This administration is amazing!!!! Traditionally, Presidents have made jokes aout their own foibles, character flaws, and the ongoing "process, process, process" of Washington politics but do not make light of life & death issues like....war. What Bush did in his stand-up routine is not about his foibles or the process of politics. It's about the rationale his administration put forth for sending soldiers into war--a war in which hundreds have died and thousands have suffered injuries. Additionally, the routine indicates the Bush administration knows its prime rationale for the invasion of Iraq--searching for WMDs--is a joke. He should have done what he did last year--show naked baby pictures of his brother Jeb.

With all the advisors at the President's disposal, it amazes and saddens me that not one stood up & said "Mr. President: To do this routine woule be flat-out wrong. A callow, callous slap in the face of our soldiers &, VERY IMPORTANT would show us to be wholly lacking in common sense, reason, or compassion."

Just as sad to me is that so many Washington-based reporters seemed to find the joke funny.
