Pewter, this isn't the thread for a debate on the validity of the Iraqi war. Try the numerous other threads please.
The gas price problem goes back decades, as does OPEC's stranglehold against this country.

OPEC cuts production by 3.5% today, and gasoline prices jumped 6%, according to MSN.
I saw $1.299 in KC yesterday. My car is supposed to get 91 octane, so it's usually 15-20 cents higher for that.

This morning, my local Speedway: $1.66 for regular unleaded. This evening? I kid you not: $1.74 for regular unleaded!!! WTF?!?
So, I get pissed and go inside and asked one of the two attendants there: "Why did the price of gas go up 8c from this morning?"
His response (no joke here): "Uh, dey cut back on oil production. Supply and demand."
How they got that oil refined and delivered to that station from the time OPEC announced the cuts and this afternoon is beyond me!
I'd beat the crap out of the attendants if I thought it'd do anything, but it won't.
(Note: For the hypersensitive idiots here with no senses of humor, that was called a JOKE.)

MIB, Cross the state line; gas is always much cheaper in IN. And it always goes up on the weekends, so buy mid-week, which means M-W. Don't go startin' no fights at any Speedways, now!

In the past 12 hours, gas prices jumped up 16 cents in my neck of the woods! 16 cents in one day is the worst I've seen, and I've not heard any news that would justify it.
Last night around 8:30 pm the prices in my area were 1.71/1.81/1.91 for the three grades. This morning they are 1.88/1.97/2.06. eek! As usual, all of the stations seem to be in cahoots and uniformly raised their prices. Anybody else see this overnight increase in your neighbhorhood?

I wish gas was under $2 a gallon. Right now, regular is about $2.0499/gallon here. SO stop whining about 1.71, 1.81 etc. You don't know how lucky you have it.

Apparently Saudi Arabia might not increase production as originally thought.

Gas this morning here was $.81 per litre. If my conversion is proper, that is $3.24 CDN per gallon. Given the current exchange rates, that's 2.30 per US gallon for unleaded (84 oCTANE), and $2.57 US for High Test (91 octane).
So if you're paying 2.04, STOP WHINING

It's virtually the same price in Calgary as in 'north of Toronto'. While gasoline is still cheaper in the US due to lower taxes, the gap has narrowed. However, just a couple months ago, we were close to .90 (Cdn) per litre here, and in some parts of Canada it was nearly $1.

87 no-lead is "down" to $2.13/gal. in SDiego. But soon I'll be back in NW Indiana, the Calumet REGION, home of
Pierogi Fest, cheap gas, and the nation's largest collection of contiguous White Castles and Non-attainment Zones!

There's 3.78 litres per US gallon. I googled under "Metric Conversion" and found quite a few websites. Then all you need is a currency converter, that you can find the same way
