For once, I agree with the Bushmonkey: No foreign country should tell us what to do!

Interesting that Putin would want Bush to stay in power. I guess with the "reform" [sic]of the Russian government under Putin we might see a similar thing happen to our own government if Bush wins 4 more years.

CNN Quote:
Under Putin's proposals, governors would no longer be elected by popular vote; instead, the president would nominate them. Russians also would no longer vote for individual members of Parliament -- rather, they would vote only for political parties.

Putin also wants to unify Russia's security services in a fashion similar to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

And to think, Putin would be labeled a commie pinko bastard if he had thrown his "endorsement" to Kerry. rolleyes.gif

I wonder what promises and kickbacks were made for this political endorsement? LOL

I feel Putin supports Bush because this administration has been looking the other way with regards to Putin's obvious steps away from democracy. Kerry may not be willing to let him reform backwards as Bush has.

A president comes to power in an election widely considered as flawed & undemocratic . . .

The country he leads is hit by an act of terrorism unprecedented in scale & cruelty . . .

The president & ruling party exploit the country's grief & fear by curtailing civil liberty & consolidating their power . . .

Even though the act of terror happened under his watch, the president effectively blames it on anyone & everyone but himself . . .

A president bases his popular appeal on an image of being "resolute" & a "strong leader", deflecting criticism of what is arguably a record of gross incompetence . . .

The president effectively converts his own failures into a cudgel with which to whack his political opponents . . .

No wonder Vlad & W. love each other so much!
