New to this, so please no "flames". I live in Loudoun County. Hoping to find group of local 'Skins fans to watch games with. Don't know if there are any organized groups, but if not, I have big-screen TV (52" widescreen) and surround-sound, can host at least sometimes (depending on number of responders). Just would be cool to watch with other guys. This is NOT a "personal" (I have a bf), serious fans only. Just thought Sundays would be more fun cheering and cussing with a group, having a few beers and maybe some munchies. Thanks.

You know, I can't help ya out with 4-skin fans.

What I can do is help with some useful "chit chat" ideas while watching the skins.

-Full breakdown of how the 1985 O works just as well in 2005 (inbetween 3 and outs).

-How "God's" NASCAR team is doing.

-Danny's record since owning the 4-skins.

-Which Players will be cut next year to clear cap space. Then which others players will be cut to clear cap space for the top 5 draft pick that is coming.

-Fat guys in drag with pig noses.

-How great portis is at running behind a crappy OL.

Hey PhillyFan, always appreciate feedback from you Feebles fans! smile.gif I admit there just aren't as many things to talk about there in Philly (for one thing, it's much harder to have serious discussions when you have to think before each word). So here's two topics you could discuss while getting your heart ripped out by yet another overhyped, underperforming season:

-T.O.: Disaster, Distraction, or Time-bomb?

-Philadelphia's last Super-Bowl win. Compare/contrast with Redskins 3 wins in 4 appearances.

Funny thing, people never seem to talk about 2nd much. wink

Circa 1980 what???

Was your hair not grey when they won?

I thought poke fans were bad living in 1990 whatever... but the 80's...

Way to go man.

Just think, Gibbs is running the SAME O as then! YEAH MAN! 4-12 is right around the corner!

FR - you'd be bitter too if EVERY other team in your division had won several Super Bowls and your team was still looking for their first Super Bowl win. tongue.gif Then throw the TO disaster into the mix and you have VERY frustrated Eagle fans. They did look good in the first half of their game against Pittsburg. wink I had saw all I needed to at that point.

Oh WOW, are you shittin me? Puker, we all know you are just a pom pom toting fan, but I did not know it was this bad. For someone who supposedly goes to games, follows a team… you sure don’t pick up a lot do you?

Here is a hint about the pre-season, it don’t matter. You get the starters in to get used to game speed. See what the rookies can do and run a very vanilla game plan.

INT for a TD, who cares? Something to work on in practice.
Punt for a TD, Special teams can work on their coverage, move some folks around. Think about bringing in a new punter if he’s going to shank them on line drives.

What you can do or take from pre-season games is seeing the rookie (moats) out there and say he looked sharp. Then move him up to the second team in the next game and see how he does.

But you see, what I have to do is cut people some slack. Tampa/4-skin/poke fans are notorious for being idiots (Poke fans can barely speak English and those are the legal ones). We all realize you are a bit slow and really don’t care until someone is winning. In tampa, that has come to a crashing halt under chucky hasn’t it?

Yeah, Yeah… I know it’s tough to follow all of this when you are waving your battle flags, trying to figure out if the Yucks are on Offense or Defense between “Yipee, Yahoo” cheers…

So what should puker do? Stick to the copy and paste pictures.

Poke fans can remember how GREAT things used to be in the mid-90’s, and work on their new green card.

And 4-skin fans can gaze at Gibbs, close their eyes, and remember when the game didn’t pass him by.

Since it is close to football kickoff, and since I’m in a nice mood, I’ll go ahead and prepare the yuck/4-skin/poke fan response…

Yeah, but they won the superbowl in “X” year (Just too bad we suck now).

Although it is quite exciting to see a 4-skin fan again since our “Most Respected Poster” had to run away after falling flat on his face after 6 months of posting “God is Back” articles.

Boy this thread has veered off topic. (Not that I don't enjoy a good bashing of Eagles fans though.)

FreeRocker, my boyfriend and I are pretty big Redskins fans. (His season tickets have been in his family since the Griffith Stadium days.) We both live in Fairfax and don't miss games. We sometimes watch away games at Titan Bar in DC, but we wouldn't mind doing something different once in a while.

Hey, lay off Nascar. Watching cars drive really fast in a circle is exciting compared to Gibbs' offense.

That's why you gotta love the poor misguided 4-skin fans... they always think they have a chance and have a great team, until week 4.

Then the tickets go like hotcakes for the 9th Eagles home game of the season at Fedex.

I believe the Prince George's County Police Department and the Maryland judicial system call this job security. You get a couple of cheap beers into these Eagles fans and they become obnoxiously belligerent. Yes, the Eagles have had some good teams the past few years, and they've often had their way with the Redskins, but why so bitter and quick to anger? I think the answer is obvious. I guess I'd be frustrated too.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

advise...

One day your eagles should win a Super Bowl. However, you need to get your arms around your anger and frustration issues or you may not live to see it.

Hey Raze,

Maybe you can wear your Irvin Jersey and He can wear his Taylor jersey.

Then watch your 3+ TD drubbings together.

That would be fun for "friends"
RazorbackTX
Or we could swap stories about Super Bowl victories, something you'll never be able to do.

Tally ho!

WOW, I knew you were old raze, but to remember that far back to when the 4-skins were good.

Do you do the full hair color job, or the one that works little by little so no one notices?
FreeRocker
My oh my Phillyfan, 2 words "de caf" (actually, that's one word, but 2 syllables might be a bit challenging). I'm a realist...have been a Skins fan since Sonny J. first came to town. Skins have been brutally bad, but have also been ferociously good. I've been a fan (and will continue) Good or Bad. That's what a true fan does, despite you insinuating (4-syllables, WHOA) we're all "fair-weather". Has the game passed Joe by? Maybe, but it didn't bypass The Tuna and Vermeil. I'd still give Gibbs the benefit, for now. Am I glorying in the past? You betcha...at least I've got one to glory in. Philly's gotten good, but all it takes is one injury...or one bad player, to wreck a team.

If the Skins can't do the job this year, I would pull for an NFC East team (even---ugh--yours) to win the show. I can recognize true quality when I see it. I hated Tom Landry when he was our nemesis, but I respected the hell out of him...he was a class act and a helluva Coach.

As for those who maybe (lol, if reluctantly) are on my side, welcome! I love my team, but I also love the NFL...greatest show on Earth. C'mon over, shawnq & RazorbackTX, I'll keep a beer cold for ya! Peace/Out!
PS RazorbackTX, pardon me for hoping we at least SPLIT with ya'll this year! lol

FR - Where do you live in VA? I was born at PG General (almost across the street from FedEX field). Dad was a DC cop. Grew up in Woodbrige. I have a great print in my office of Riggins losing a Dolphins defender in the Super Bowl. Classic.

Do you go to Skins away games? They play the Bucs 11/13.

I'm thinking she'd need alot more than 2 to sit through a Redskins game.

Maybe they can replay a 1986 game or something when the counter-trey worked?

How much does a 4-skin fan suckin up to a poke fan make your stomach churn...

Ya'all should feel ashamed.

PF should refrain from Southern terms until he learns how to properly spell them.

JIP - although it is technically correct to contract the words that way, most Southerners do not. I am sure there are some who do, but a majority use "Ya'll".
The Dirty Blond used 2 "a"s in his version, which smacked of carpetbagging Yankee. biggrin.gif
PhillyFan
just how many times do these yankees have to durn down your city before ya'all learn scarlet?
Herr Tiggee
What is "durn"? Do you mean "burn"? Are you already drunk?

Instead of "ya'll", PA folks say "yunz". I don't know if that's the correct spelling as it's so ass backward that I doubt it's in a dictionary. rolleyes.gif

PS - not that Jamie would be interested but the hottest guy in my class is a Family Practice doctor in Reston. Dr. Jim Long. wink

It's a Western Pennsylvania thing. People who root for the Pirates and Stillers, who play dahntahn in the new stadiums, often say it.

Linebacker LaVar Arrington and the Washington Redskins have finalized a settlement that ends a contract dispute that lasted 17 months, according to several sources involved in the negotiations.

Under the deal, an amendment has been added to Arrington's contract stating that if he makes the Pro Bowl two of the next four seasons he would be allowed to void his contract and become a free agent. The Redskins would then have the option of paying him $3.25 million to keep him. In addition, he could earn $1.6 million more if he participates in 98 percent of special-teams plays, which is unlikely.

Arrington had accused the Redskins of cheating him out of $6.5 million and was going to take his case to arbitration. The Redskins vehemently maintained that they did nothing wrong, and spokesman Karl Swanson said often that the team would not settle the case. Arrington eventually dropped his arbitration case and the Redskins will not have to pay the linebacker any of the disputed bonus unless he reaches the Pro Bowl incentives.

The matter appeared closed in late July when both sides agreed to a framework of a settlement. But they couldn't finalize the deal. The resolution is expected to become official by early tonight when documents are signed by all parties involved-- including Arrington--at Redskins Park.

Arrington was unavailable for comment. Swanson did not immediately return voice mail or e-mail messages. Other key participants in the agreement declined comment until after the signings.

The $1.6 million figure will be almost impossible to achieve, since Arrington must participate in 98 percent of special-teams play, said two sources who have seen the agreement. (The performance clause was inserted to satisfy a salary-cap rule.)

Entering the 2004 season, Arrington had made the Pro Bowl three consecutive times. Arrington was not named last season after suffering a bone bruise that forced him to sit out 12 games. The linebacker, who underwent two knee surgeries for his injury, is expected to play in Friday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, taking the field for the first time since last season.

Arrington originally had contended that the Redskins failed to include a $6.5 million bonus in the eight-year, $68 million contract he signed with the team in December 2003. A resolution seemed remote until July 27, when Arrington met for two hours with Coach Joe Gibbs, owner Daniel Snyder and NFL Players Association Executive Director Gene Upshaw at Redskins Park. Upshaw helped organize the meeting and formulated the framework of the resolution, according to officials involved in the talks.

The settlement talks were spurred after Arrington telephoned Gibbs about concerns about his Redskins future, sources said. Gibbs played a pivotal role by insisting on a resolution, and he later held a separate meeting with Arrington's representatives in his office at Redskins Park. (Team counsel Norman D. Chirite negotiated for the Redskins with Arrington's Memphis-based lawyer, Steve Brown.)

The disputed contract was negotiated by Arrington's agent, Carl Poston, and Eric Schaffer, the team's salary-cap specialist. Arrington contended that $6.5 million in guarantees were missing from the 2006 season. He accused the club of purposely removing the difference from the final draft he signed at Redskins Park under deadline pressure.

Arrington originally filed the grievance as an individual through Don Petersen, a Detroit-based attorney, and received assistance from Richard Berthelsen, the players association's general counsel. The Redskins were aided by the NFL's management council.
