Ever been called for a political survey at home? I just remembered one I got a call on the other week.
From the questions I figured out it was trying to be skewed in favor of Pete Sessions, our incumbent US congressman in the DeLayed District 32. So I got questions like, "on a scale of 1 to 100 do you favor abortion" or other items.
Now, if youre like me, are you going to honestly sit there for 10 minutes and determine what score you should give? Um, how about 73 1/2? Youre probably going to say 0, 50 or 100. So now I understand how polls have such widely varied results and you can skew them to whatever you want. The poor girl in Utah asking these questions was probably making 6 bucks and really wanting to get off the phone. So I made it quick and tried to make it clear I was a liberal in my answers.
Anyone else have the fun of these surveys lately?

I kept getting calls from "The Association of Conservative Colorado Voters"...lol
Needless to say I made sure I gave the answer I knew they didn't want.

The W-S Journal has an online weekly survey with the proverbial "question of the week"... I've appeared in their compilation of responces several times, and no doubt came off as an absolutely FLAMING liberal....

I got Gallup polled during the 2000 election, which I though was pretty cool (the questions were all pretty fair too, as I recall).

I've only been polled by partisan groups. They ask questions like: "Do you support the President's plan to make education equally accessible to all children, regardless of their family's financial status, or do you think it should be more difficult for children from poor black families to get a good education?"
Then they can publish reports like: 90% of respondents support the president's education plan!

I get these all the time because of my elected position within the GOP - and consistently respond to them as I did when campaigning: keep church and state separate; leave marriage to the churches, ensure equal rights in all the states; lay off the gay-bashing; go tough on crime, but make rehab worthwhile; ensure a strong economy, public school system and national defense; preserve freedom of reproductive choice; promote controlled legal immigration as much as prosecute unlimited, corporate-driven illegal entry; ... you get the idea. I never permit the surveys to limit my choices, but edit freely to state what I want to say, not some money-driven pollster (read, Rove) wants to hear.
And I call myself a Republican? For shame! wink
