Did you read the story about Astro's newest player-Alan Zinter -age 35 ? He FINALLY made the big leagues after 14 yrs in the minors . What an inspiring story - hang on to your dreams ! Alan Zinter ( not bad lookin either !)

Well, I think you have to be registered at the NY Times site, correct? I am; what a nice story. It just points out that pro sports (or the music business, or the movie business) are sooooo tough to break in to; there's thousands of really talented people that for lack of chances or lack of mental toughness, never make it. I think that there's 1000's of guys just as talented as the 'Stros new pinch hitter out there, but he stuck with it and it's paid off for a bit. He almost sounds like an AL-DH type because it seems that defense is not his strength.

Good for him. At least he'll have an entry in the Baseball Almanac now, more than I can say!

Thanks, guys. I went there and saw the registration portion and didn't even read what it said. I assumed I had reached a pay portion of their site. I'll register today.
