John Kerry's Huge Schlong: Further Thoughts, Reader Comments

• What was that he said about 'fire in the belly'?
• If you could only put Edward's face on Kerry's body, you'd have the perfect candidate.
• Maybe it's time to resurrect that Edwards slogan. ["I'd f**k Him."]
• So that's what they mean about an attractive candidate. I knew it wasn't his hair.
• Penis! [Submitted by "Tina Brown." Nice.]
• The Republicans have still nominated the bigger Dick.
• You can 'bring it on' me anytime, John.
• I guess having a horse face isn't the end of the world as long as you've also got a horse. . . [Reader did not elaborate.]
• And they said the Republicans were the big tent party.
• Though it looks like he leans to the left in this picture, he usually prefers to straddle the middle.
• How can he claim to stand for the little guy now?
• We look forward to head-to-head competition in California.
• Igniting the base, alright.
• Several variations of "good match for Bush." Please make up your own if you're playing along at home.
• Is this what they mean by "polls well"?

For anyone tempted to type "You guys are pathetic, talking about his schlong", relax, there's five months until the convention, we've got time to be serious.

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times ran a picture of Kerry, shot from in front and below. And woah! thank you Kerry for wearing light slacks--the boy is packin'.

Now the hard part starts for him. The RNC smear machine now has a target and it's going to go in to overdrive (I think Bush's first ads have appeared). It's going to get brutal.

John Kerry's waffles; a scorecard (Slate)

This still pales beside W's cynical lies, but be prepared for JK's lack of conviction to be exploited by the GOP. However, can they paint him as a "liberal" when the record indicates he has no fixed ideology at all?

Kerry vs. Kerry

The Kerry camp has raised $6 million in the past 6 days which is doing pretty darn good, of course nothing like the bottomless pit of money that Shrub has raised in his attempt to buy the Presidency, but hopeful that we can keep up this fundraising effort.

Bush's flipflops, via Daily KOS , via Salon:

Bush is against a Homeland Security Department; then he's for it.
Bush is against a 9/11 commission; then he's for it.
Bush is against an Iraq WMD investigation; then he's for it.
Bush is against nation building; then he's for it.
Bush is against deficits; then he's for them.
Bush is for free trade; then he's for tariffs on steel; then he's against them again.
Bush is against the U.S. taking a role in the Israeli Palestinian conflict; then he pushes for a "road map" and a Palestinian State.
Bush is for states right to decide on gay marriage, then he is for changing the constitution.
Bush first says he'll provide money for first responders (fire, police, emergency), then he doesn't.
Bush first says that 'help is on the way' to the military ... then he cuts benefits.
Bush: "The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. Bush: "I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care."
Bush claims to be in favor of the environment and then secretly starts drilling on Padre Island.
Bush talks about helping education and increases mandates while cutting funding.
Bush first says the U.S. won't negotiate with North Korea. Now he will
Bush goes to Bob Jones University. Then say's he shouldn't have.
Bush said he would demand a U.N. Security Council vote on whether to sanction military action against Iraq. Later Bush announced he would not call for a vote.
Bush said the "mission accomplished" banner was put up by the sailors. Bush later admits it was his advance team.
Bush was for fingerprinting and photographing Mexicans who enter the US. Bush after meeting with Pres. Fox, he's against it.

Sounds like a man of conviction to me....

Somebody, somewhere pointed out that the name "John Kerry" can be rearranged to spell "Horny Jerk." Almost as good as "Spiro Agnew," which can be rearranged to spell...

Anyone? Anyone?

I don't know. How about "grow a penis"?

But as JIP, JA, et. al. would say, "That's different! It's not the same!"

So there.

Interesting comments from Bill Clinton regarding Kerry's position on gay marriage that was part of this CNN column:

Clinton also commented on Kerry's nuanced position on same-sex marriage. "I think Kerry's in the right place on it, and we'll just see what happens. I think the country is going through this dramatic reassessment, and we've come a very long way on this issue," said Clinton, who signed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996.

Of particular interest was Clinton's reference to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" when he said:

"Keep in mind when I tried to get gays in the military in '93 it was one of the major reasons I lost the Congress in '94. We have come a long way," Clinton said.

"And the culture is different in different communities, different states. We'll work through it, and we'll continue broadening the circle of rights in America."

Well written column by Vanessa Kerry in the latest issue of The Advocate that discusses her support for the GLBT community along with discussions that she has had with her father on related issues....in light of Mary Cheney's spineless silence in recent months it's refreshing to see the daughter of a presidential candidate be so outspoken on behalf of her "many good and dear gay friends"....we can only hope that she remains as vocal and supportive on issues of equality and human rights AFTER her father is elected president in four months.

Vanessa certainly didn't mince words when it comes to her views on the stance that the present administration has taken concerning our community when she eloquently stated:

The use of marriage as a wedge issue by this administration is both infuriating and insulting to me. I find it unacceptable and appalling to take the United States Constitution and twist it for political expediency. Instead of investing in education, health care, and job creation, George Bush has decided to spend his energy playing politics with the LGBT community. In my opinion, American lives are jeopardized by problems such as an unequal educational system, unaffordable and inaccessible health care, and the loss of jobs in this country. America is not jeopardized by loving people making a lifetime commitment to one another.

The threat of constitutional amendments to dictate social policy and force states to discriminate against groups of their own citizens cannot be permitted. Our country was founded on free debate and discussion, and they have kept this country strong for more than 200 years. We cannot be a nation in which we are afraid of other people's views, or else we've lost one of the greatest values in this country. Today, families all across the country are having the same debate, and it is a sign of a healthy democracy, which we need to protect now more than ever.

Right on Vanessa. The distinction between Kerry and Shrub could not be any wider.
