Trade expected to be announced Tuesday. So is the reason the Raiders haven't even been throwing to Rice because they're just wasting him (as he says)? Or is he really that over-the-hill? His numbers dropped a lot in 2003, but how much of that was because Rich Gannon missed half the season?

If it happens it's a good deal for Seattle. I think his 2003 numbers were down for a number of reasons. Lack of a running game, poor o line gave whichever QB no time, Porter was hurt so no vertical game, Tim Brown had poor season. With other weapons he's still very dangerous. I like this move for him, but it does make Seattle more of a contender I think. Gives them a good possession receiver.

...and Koren Robinson, facing a 4 game suspension.

Its a good move for the Hawks and for Rice. He will fill a slot that is really needed.

He's 42, he should have retired 2 years ago.

Two years ago he had 92 catches, and after having a total in the 60s in 1999, increased his total three years in a row. If his numbers were holding up why would he have had to retire two years ago? Considering the slop that the Raiders had at QB in place of Gannon last year, I think it's reasonable to assume Rice's skills haven't dropped that dramatically that the Raiders would just stop throwing to him like that.
