I was not a fan of the recall, but I was less of a fan of California's form of government, that being its constitutional provisions which make budgetary changes almost impossible. Just as the far right running everything is not good, California is testament that the Left running everything is also bad. They've messed up CA. pretty well.

This column discusses if Arnold is the one for the job.

MIB, please stop it with these outrageous statements! BEFORE Gray Davis, California had REPUBLICAN LEADERS--Republicans--from 1983-1999. That is 16 years!!! Much of the criticism of California's current fiscal state, and especially the energy problems, should be laid at the doorstep of both George Deukmejian and Pete Wilson, both of whom had tremendous influence during their long tenures, including over the Democratic-controlled legislatures. Davis was only in office from 1999 to 2003.

Perhaps, fantomas, when you actually learn just how California's government is structured, you will also learn just how litle influence its governors truly have, and that includes Duke and Wilson, the latter being nothing more than a Democrat in Republican's clothing. I won't hold my breath, however, on your ever grasping this due to your obvious leftward bias. Always excusing the damaging actions of your own ilk. Wake up and see how much they've hurt that state.

The legislature there is far more at fault than any executive officer ever has been, and the People have themselves to blame, too, for that state's ridiculous referendum and proposition system. It's emasculated the elected officials.

CA. will not change until and unless its constitution is rewritten from the ground up.
