Dan Marino is at the top of my list. One of the most prolific QBs of all time but he never won the Super Bowl.

Barry Sanders.
Has anyone ever found a good explanation for why he just up and quit like that? Pissed off at the Lions? Financially set and didn't want to be a cripple at the age of 45? ????

Thurman Thomas
Bruce Smith

At first I thought this thread said "Great players who never had the big one" But I digress, here are three Hall of Famers to add to the list.
Fran Tarkenton
Steve Largent
James Lofton

Again, I'm in agreement with mdphl - I've always felt a bit sorry for Dan Marino for never winning the big one. And now he has to endure the strained, pushed, banter on CBS's pregame show.
Phillyrunner notes Steve Largent. I used to feel a bit sorry for him too - until I learned just how right-wing his politics are.

Exactly. Just like Dan Marino, I endured many a painful postseason watching the Dolphins simply implode. The wrong team in Miami (Marlins) has been enjoying the big prize.

Hmmmmmm .... Great players who never won the big one...
Well I guess that would be anyone that played for the eagles, but have there ever been any "great" ones?
