Caught this article from Liz Sidoti of the AP this morning, and it just blows me away.:
The Pentagon is in the early stages of drafting a war time request for up to $100 Billion more for Iraq and Afghanistan, lawmakers say, a figure that would push spending related to the wars towards a staggering half trillion dollars. This is in addition to the $50 Billion Congress is about to give the Pentagon before lawmakers adjourn for the year for operations in Iraq for the beginning of 2006.!
John Murtha mentioned the $100 billion figure last week to reporters saying, " twenty years its going to take to settle this thing. The American people are not going to put up with it, can't afford it."
No shit Mr. Murtha. What I want to see now is the administrations defecit forecasts for the remaining 2 years of the current occupier of the White House, which they keep preaching are going to be cut in half. Yeah right, I have some snow for sale in Antarctica too Mr. President.
It shall be very interesting hearing how the Repugs. who are up for re-election next year try to sell this to their constituents in their home districts.
