A very disturbing encounter between protesters and the presidential motorcade...

I've sent a copy of this to about 40 friends. Most of them are decided, but you never know. Scarey!

Seems to me there have been so many stories like this one this year, from people wearing anti-Bush t-shirts being harassed or worse. What do our friends on the right have to say about this??? We don't hear anything about Bush people being roughed up while attending Kerry rallies...are they that afraid of what may happen on Nov. 2nd?

For me, as a law-and-order libertarian, it's an easy call: illegal abridgments of 1st Amdt. rights should be strenuously prosecuted wherever they occur, whether on campaign trails by FBI agents, college classrooms by intolerant professors, local party offices by union goons* or anywhere else. What part about "strict enforcement leads to less need for enforcement" don't people understand?

Perhaps one (other?) reason why you don't read much about Bush supporters being roughed up at Kerry rallies is because we have better things to do than go and listen to the same tired rhetoric that's brought so much harm to the country, especially when it's consistently delivered, as it is, in such a ranting and smarmy manner. Most of us would rather walk precincts to ensure Republican victories in November.

*As in the recent case of the invasion and trashing of several county GOP HQ in FL by Democrat-led labor union members.

One reason you don't read about Bush supporters being roughed up at Kerry rallies is because John Kerry BELIEVES in the Constitution and the freedom of speech. He allows protesters to have their say then he explains why they are wrong. I have seen it done many times on CSPAN and other news broadcasts. Bush has them shut up immediately because he cannot give an intelligent response.

Agreed. Two words: "loyalty oath".

You really shouldn't talk about W and your wacko faith-based party so badly. Yes, he delivers the same tired rhetoric mechanically, and yes it is often ranted and his smarminess is beyond belief, and yes, his four years have done tremendous "harm to OUR country," but he was...well, appointed, you know.

And BTW, GOPers do attend Kerry and Edwards rallies, and they do get their say. Kerry and Edwards have no need to stage-manage every detail or deny dissenters like the W Party fanatics do, down to loyalty-oaths and arresting people who are expressing their First Amendment Rights. We live in the United States, you know, not Austria after the Anschlüss....

You should wax so prolix on the Demo-union Sturmabteilungen who trashed those FL GOP HQs, FT. Or don't you believe in equal protection and enforcement of the laws?

What makes you think the Repugs didn't do that themselves to make the Domcrats look bad? Desparate times call for desperate measures and when you have a wacko like Karl Rove calling the shots, anything goes...even self-destruction.
gmginsfo
With paranoid conspiracy ideas like that one, Mr. Bobby, you're the one who should worry about self-destruction! That mindset illustrates perfectly why so many Americans reject the irrational "leadership" of the loony left.

The only source on this I could find (that wasn't a blatantly biased website, sorry freerepublic.com is not a place to get news) is the AP. Doesn't really sound like much of a trashing. Wow, a poster got defaced. I'm more concerned about the GOP offices that can't seem to keep any windows. That's still not trashing, and it certainly hasn't been demonstrated that unions had anything to do with it. I'm fairly certain the "teenage boy" who stole a $40 cardboard cutout of the president from another Florida office wasn't a union member.

BTW, all of these people are committing crimes. They are not abridging anyone's first amendment rights, like the president and his minions are. I'm also interested in how first amendment rights can come into play in the classroom. There are no first amendment protections for students from overzealous teachers, and professors are employees whose employers are not responsible for garuanteeing the right to free speech, even in state institutions.

I think Bobby's referring to something that comes up in reviews of that Karl Rove Bush Brain book. Apparently it's a classic Karl Rove tactic to sabotage your own office and make it look like the other side did it. It keeps coming up in a lot of blog talks about the rash of attacks on GOP offices that Drudge keeps posting.
