I'm surprised no one mentined this and I haven't heard much about it elsewhere but it seems, that when you're actively in combat and you're a bit overstretched, numberswise, positions soften on gays in the military.

The article you link seems to be more about changing attitudes toward having gays among their ranks among soldiers in general rather than just when ranks are overstretched.

Regardless, it is well worth repeating IMO.

I agree Sport. I can only speak for the Air Force. your post is right on.

This is somewhat interesting, but given the fact that everything I am hearing regarding how many more thousands are troops are desperately needed in Iraq, I am a bit suspect. But, it still is encouraging, especially if it comes to light.

Not to toot my own horn - TOO MUCH! - but those who are adept at researching posts - I'm not - will uncover that I did mention this as a factor in bringing about some change in DADT several months before the election. It's needed now more than ever!

I actually mentioned in a previous posting that with this war out of hand I would not be surprised if they end the ban on gays. It is always when the desperate for more people to risk their lives that they reexamine discriminatory rules.
