New England and Cincy show late mettle pulling off victories.

Patriots stuff Edgerrin James on 4th and goal from the 2, to hang on 38-34, nearly blowing a 21-point lead (they should done a play action to Dallas Clark, just for my fantasy team)

Cincy gives up a Hines Ward TD w/1 minute left, only to march downfield and answer.

Baltimore answers w/a pasting of San Fran 44-6, the "offensive" juggernaut Ravens have scored 88 in thier last 2 games.

Brock Forsey does just fine in replacement of Anthony Thomas. And don't look now, but the Bears are 5-7, only 2 back behind less than impressive Vikings and Packers.

Philly and St. Louis take control of the NFC race.

I don't think a play to Dallas Clark would have helped very much, since he was taken out in the second quarter with a fractured leg. rolleyes.gif

Terrific finishes in the Bengals and Patriots wins. And I got to see both as the Eagles game ended and I switched to the CBS game--after the Bengals won they showed the Patriots finish.

I don't think the 4th down run by James was a good idea at all. I expected some kind of rollout by Manning.
Jim at Outsports
Joe: I had no problem with the fourth-down call. They had James and only a yard. The Pats just made a great stand. The play call I question was on third down, a fade to Morehead (who?). The problem on those type of plays is it's all or nothing. Giving Manning more options on the play would have been better. This was the best game I saw all season. Pats up 21, Colts rally and fall 1 yard short.

stay tuned ... KC 21, SD 17 ... just into the 4th

Wow, KC has come up on top of several scarily close games this season. We have not had our share of blow-outs that one might expect from an 11-1 team.

Well... Being from KC, I am a Chiefs fan. But NFL football is not a sport that I'm a passionate follower of. So excuse me if I'm being a traitor to my team, but I have to say this: Jesus Christ, holy mother of god, could there be any man on this earth that is any hotter than Doug Flutie?!?!

Um, as Winston Churchill might say, "the use of a preposition at the end of a sentence is something up with which I will not put."

Okay, okay, so I had a few beers... and a few martinis... while watching the game today. Maybe I should have a breathalizer thingy on my computer that I have to blow into before I'm allowed to post on the Outsports message board on weekends. smile.gif

When it's all said and done, it doesn't matter how you win the games... it only matters that you win the games. Go Chief's. Just keep finding a way to win, baby.

Wow, I can't say I'm very surprised by Baltimore beating San Francisco. I AM surprised, though, that they beat them as badly as they did. With that defense, though, if they can keep scoring 30+ points per game, they won't lose again. And who'd have thought the Bengals/Ravens game next week would have BIG playoff implications?

not only that but that the Bengals 2nd string RB and the #3 QB in Baltimore (at the beginning of the season) would've played a big role in getting the teams here.

I have a question...where and when is the funeral for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Theo
A lot of good games today with Indy almost staging a comeback against NE. Cincy, holding on to beat Pittsburgh and win 6 of their last 7 has justifiably ridded themselves of the nickname, Bungles. Titans vs Jets on Monday night should be a good one if McNair plays.

I'm sure everyone here thought Jon Kitna and Matt Hasselbeck would be top tier QBs.

Week 14 has even better games in store. Indy travels to TEN for the division race lead in the AFC South. Cincy goes to Baltimore in an attempt to sweep the Ravens and take sole advantage of 1st place in the AFC North. Also, Dallas gets 10 days to prepare for Philadelphia as they meet at the Link next week and compete for home field against St. Louis, Philly, Seattle, and Minnesota.

Other games of great consequence are Seattle at Minnesota and Kansas City at Denver.

I love this time of year!

Sorry Joe, you missed it. It was on Tuesday October 7 after that Monday Night debacle against Indianapolis. biggrin.gif

I am ashamed to say I could not watch the last minute of the NE/Indy game. I was so certain my Patriots were going to blow it, I could not see it happen, and missed the best ending of any game this year! (okay, I got to see it about a dozen times on replays).
Jim Allen
Yeah, game of the year so far with Pats v. Colts. A couple key plays: the Colts giving up that horrible kick return TD at the end of the first half--isn't it standard to squib it? Awful tackling. Then, later, they kick off again and Johnson runs it back 67 yards. The loss really hurts the Colts; they'll probably play on the road in the first round and could easily get bounced out.

Nice to see Michael Vick back.

Tampa Bay is technically still alive, but it would take a lot of things going right for them to even make the playoffs. Tee hee.

NOW I will admit we will not make the playoffs! But still going to New Orleans if for anything to P A R T Y!

St. Louis is the NFC team to beat! I think we might just have a repeat of the Rams and The Patriots!

What's that sound you hear? the changing of buc jerseys to the cowboy jerseys.....

what happened to the 10 or so buc fans that were around at the beg of the year?

That was so great seeing a defensive stand end a game instead of a last minute TD or FG. Don't see that happen very often.

I'm thinking it may be time for the Vikes to go back to Frerotte. The responsibility for too many turnovers during this slide lands squarely at Culpepper's feet. He's fumbling and throwing INT's too often.

I wouldn't be surprised top see Rattay start for the Niners next week.

Please merciful and almighty God, don't let Calico score a TD for the Titans tonight or have over 50 yards receiving. Amen.

First of all, it looks like Rattay is taking over the starting job, if this morning's Chronicle is accurate!

Second, it is so unlike you George to pray to the football gods just because your fantasy football league opponent (Theo) has Calico playing tonight! I hope he eats dust too, by the way...

Myself, I need Chad Pennington, Derrick Mason and Gary Anderson to come up with 33 points tonight in order for me win!

Woo Hoo! My boys Chad, Derrick and Gary came through for me!

George, you got your prayers answered too...
Theo
George, is that all it takes is saying a prayer? Dang! Calico didn't score me one single point last night and the Cruisers fell to 10-3. sad.gif

Congrats on the win.
