I have a BIG problem in Miami-Dade County. One of the candidates for mayor is a big proponent of gay issues, including partner benefits for county employees. But he is against the stadium for the Marlins. The other candidate has been vague at best on the gay issues, but is in favor of putting up the new ballpark for the Marlins.
I love the Marlins and don't want them moving to Portland, Vegas, or elsewhere.....Who gets my vote???

MiamiSpartan, call the Pro-stadium candidate's field office and ask the workers what their candidate's stand on various gay issues are. The campaign workers will give you all the information you need as you are an undecided voter. Be sure to say that when you call. Then you can make an informed choice.

Vote for the pro-gay candidate. In many cities, the team owner will threaten the city, saying he's going to move the team or sell it, if they don't build a new stadium. Most of the time, its just a bluff and eventually the two sides will make a deal. Now it doesn't always happen like that (ie: Charlotte), but if there are lots of fans in Miami like you, the owners and the city will find a way to keep the team.

Well, is the candidate for mayor that is a big proponent of gay issues cute?

If so, there is your answer! biggrin.gif wink

A couple of years ago I was at a convention in South Beach (yes, a real convention) that happened to be there over Halloween.

I don't know about you, but the "boys" are very very hot.

And I was wearing a Roots Canada t-shirt, and got into a great conversation with a Miami Cop. Big, burly, hot as hell.

Who cares if they're cute. Vote for the one that will give the stadium AND the rights.

Suggestions please!

I just got off the phone with a woman who wants to interview me in Austin on Election Day! I want this job big time....I hate the one I'm doing right now....and yes, it would mean a move to Austin!

Anyway, its gonna require an overnight stay in Austin on Monday and Tuesday night.

I'm clueless about early voting. Where do I go or can I?

not sure if early voting is still going on, but you can vote anywhere...there are places to vote all over houston (and texas city i'm sure). you better hurry though, cuz it may have closed or may even be closing today...pretty sure there's no early voting in the week leading up to the election. if you miss early voting and you're outta town you might be able to send in a ballot??? not sure how that works....
faydman
oh yeah...forgot to wish you good luck with the job interview...

Thanks for the suggestion! I dug around and found my voters guide and it gave me some locations locally.

Went this afternoon and voted...the place was surprisingly busy!

I found this site via google:
Galveston County early voting

More info at Galveston County Clerk's Office.

You have until Friday. I just voted today here in Austin and only needed my driver's license.

Good luck on the interview! Living in Austin is great, and I think you would enjoy it immensely.
