Generalities such as "Liberals always take things out of context" reveal the workings of a simple mind.
"PUT ALL THE EXTREMISTS IN A CELL WITH MARTHA!"

I was joking. I didn't think that anyone would take a post that ended with the assertion, "Anticontextualism is destroying our nation," or whatever I said, seriously. I don't like little smiley faces but perhaps I should have put one on there, just to be clear for my fellow simple minds. I thought is seemed obvious. Unless Bryan D is joking about my joking, and I'm just not getting his joke about my joke.

By the way, this is a very unpatriotic thing to say. I mean, jeez, go back to Russia.

Please return to the regularly scheduled partisan mudslinging. Thank you.
Tarkus, I understand you want to keep the threads lighter, but sometimes people have complex arguments and when the threads spread over two pages it is not possible to "scroll up."
BTW, the threads do consist of more than "regularly scheduled partisan mudslinging." One could actually learn quite a bit about law, history, political science and many current affairs here--from gay sports fans no less.

I just wanted to throw in a little support here. I agree with this, I've learned a lot about sports and politics on this board. i've changed my opinion on many things due to some people here bringing up things I had never thought about.

and one other point. this discussion is not "partisan mudslinging" as the heated exchange was begun between republicans who were not in agreement. Not everything is black and white and the republican party is not a monolithic monster.

Don't be picking on Tarkus. He's only trying to keep things running smoothly. There are too many times when someone posts a long messages, and the very next person posting quotes the entire message in replying. It's not needed.
As for his statement about "regularly scheduled partisan mudslinging" he was just trying to be funny, I think. And don't delude yourselves: said mudslinging does exist here in great quantities, no matter how many other fine insightful exchanges there may be.

wow, lighten up boys...the huge chunks of text quotes are unneccessary and annoying...and tarkus is the moderator for god's sake: he's in charge!
let the mudslinging continue...william?

The lack of patriotism revealed in this comment is staggering.

The abundance of humor in that statement is belly-jiggling!
