"Bring em on" Bush was busy enjoying his month long vacation and had no comment.

I wondered if he's ever considered going to a funeral for one of our dead soldiers. Probably to busy fishing, cutting down weeds and fundraising for that.

To the common Iraqi man:

Dead American: $5000
Dead Saddam: $30 million and a nice escape to a foreign villa.

Hmmm, even in Iraq Im sure they know 30 mil is a bit more.

I'm much less worried about the bounties than about what appears to be hardening hatred of the U.S. soldiers and the U.S. effort.

A reporter on "Newshour with Jim Lehrer" tonight basically said that the Iraqis he's encountered are openly hostile, even to non-combatant non-Iraqis. He stated that even Iraqis who had been enthusiastic about the US action now appear to be turning against us, but the American administrators there are isolated from the "street"--i.e., they are unaware of the effects of the raids, the lack of services and infrastructure, the linger anger over the civilian deaths, and so on.

The car bombing of the Jordanian Embassy could be an awful prelude of horrors to come--but I sincerely hope it isn't. According to the NY TIMES, it has our military leaders on edge; it's a serious escalation and was carried out simultaneously with an attack on US troops that led to an hours-long gun battle in the streets. Jordan recently sheltered Saddam's two daughters (who expressed anger about the death of their brothers, despite that fact that their butcher father slaughtered their husbands!), and has simultaneously been a US ally.

So was the bombing relation for Jordan's support of the US; anger at Jordan's sheltering of the Saddamite girls; or just a horrible provocation and act of resistance?

If those numbers are right our soldiers are in serious trouble. There are more of them and they're easier to find so far.

A clearer report on American casualties in Iraq:
Guardian UK: 827 Americans wounded so far

Do you have to be an Iraqian to collect the money? If this bounty money is open for all the people of the world, I've got a few people on my list. And I need the cash. If it's not, then I say lets just nuke the whole Iraq country. Then go in, clean it up and Americanize the region. I still say its a prime location for the new 'Disney Desert Kingdom', even a few condo complexes and a TGIFridays.

I dont think you have to be any specific nationality to collect on killing anyone. Im not advocating killing US soldiers, but if I were an Iraqi, Id conspire to pretend to knock off a soldier and then find out where I can collect the 5 grand from Saddaam or his cronies. Then once theyve established where to meet, tip off the Americans so they can go and arrest said cronies and/or Saddaam himself.
