Well, joke's on me, completely had me convinced, wouldn't have been too much of stretch.
And Southern Decadence was a damn good time - went several years in a row. Better than Mardi Gras.

From repentamerica: "Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city," stated Repent America director Michael Marcavage. "From 'Girls Gone Wild' to 'Southern Decadence,' New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. From the devastation may a city full of righteousness emerge," he continued.
Looking forward to Girls Gone Mild next year, as well as the next Mardi Gras. "Throw us your rosary beads!"
So what happened with Biloxi? Bad aim? Was there more decadence in that town than we thought?

Are you kidding? All those casinos? Biloxi had a pretty live gay scene too, from Joey's to the Sanctuary. When I first moved there in '95, the mayor was convicted of murdering a local judge and his wife. The coast of Mississippi was another sinful place, deserved it, dammit.
People are always confusing crime with sin.

Meanwhile, over the weekend Texas governor Rick Perry appeared on a platform with a minister who blamed gays specifically and "decadence" generally for the hurricane. Gov. Perry had no comment when the minister (whose name escapes me but I can look it up if need be) crowed that now there are no more abortions being performed in New Orleans, there are no more gays and there is no more Mardi Gras.

That is so f**king disgusting. What's even more disgusting is the silence of Gov. Perry. Silence=consent, Mr. Perry. And to the minister: The Gays haven't been destroyed (I'm pretty sure some of them had cars and went somewhere else--they continued to be *shock and gasp* GAY), and Mardi Gras will probably pick up somewhere else if NO isn't back up to speed by next year.

It was too easy keltic...I couldn't pass it up.
Seriously, I go back and forth from complete anger to not taking these kind of people seriously. I guess if I didn't know there were so many people out there like lost sheep following these "shepherds", it would be easier to not take them seriously.
Some people are utterly unbeleivable!

Well, this is the problem, isn't it? A minister (by their own words, not necessarily mine) makes the statement that God wanted to destroy whomever (insert your favorite minority/persecuted people here) and the followers jump to the conclusion that God will be pleased if they help out.....it really isn't much of a leap for them to consider beating up gays, women, abortion clinic employees, ethnic minorities etc. because this "preacher" said it's ok, it's what God wants.
I believe that was a defense that a bomber of an abortion clinic used; that it was better to kill the doctor because it would prevent him from killing thousands of unborn babies.

Well if God was targeting the gays, he didn't do a real bang up job seeing that the French Quarter has sustained the least damage of all the areas. Maybe Brownie's grandfather is God's go-to guy for disaster impact.

Given the probable number or fundamentalist Christians in New Orleans and across the track of the hurricane, wouldn't it be safe to say that if God is sending any "judgments" via storm-damage, it's probably directed at God-fearing, fag-hating fundamentalists?
