The Bucs next 3 games are away and should determine their playoff fate. Overall it's been nice that they are in the mix this late in the season. Glad to see what Simms is made of and the potential of FINALLY having a running game in Tampa with Cadillac.
Bucs @ New Orleans - Saints historically play the Bucs close. Too close to call...

1. Eagles 4-1 at home.
2. Seahawks 3-2 on road, in which 4 of the 5 teams they played on road were under .500
2.5 Seahawks 6 of their 9 wins against teams under .500
3. Seahawks last two wins by a combined 5 points, and one of those games was against the 49ers
4. Against the NFC East they have "struggled", loss to the Skins, and had two games giftwrapped by Bledsoe and Feely
5. Last two big back to hit town, Jordan was shut down. LT, and everyone knows how he was slapped around.
6. Weather should be downright cold.

I think Alexander will have a similar game against the Eagles as he did with the Giants. He will get a couple of yards here & there and maybe break one for a long of 15 yards, but it will not be easy. Eagles D has shown they can stop the run. I mean, holding Tomlinson to 7 yards? Work.cut. out. Then again, they did give up 111 to Samkon Gado???
Will McMahon be able to play well enough to lead the Eagles to another victory? His play was hardly stellar against the Packers, which probaly is the second worse team in the league. His play was less than spectacular in Detroit and he couldn't even beat out Joey H.
The loss of cornerback Kelly Herndon due to a knee injury is a concern as the Seahwaks are already down two starters on defense. Eagles are the 3rd ranked passing team, but without McNabb & TO, that stat is skewed.
If the weather is going to downright cold, then it's key that the Seahawks and Alexander establish a ground game. Maybe they need to see what the Pack did last week to open up holes for Shaun. My main concern is that Hasselbeck doesn't throw his usual one a game bone headed passes that results in an easy pick because I bet this one comes down to the kicking game. Akers vs. Brown. So far all three of the Seahawks games agsinst the NFC East has come down to the kicking game. 2 of the three went into OT.
This could be the same scenario. Love it.
As for Seattle's 6 of 9 win record against teams below .500, here are numbers for other teams.
Indy 7 wins against sub .500 teams, 3 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.
Denver 4 wins against sub .500 teams, 1 loss to sub .500 team, 4 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.
Seattle 6 wins against sub .500 teams, 1 loss to sub .500 team, 3 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.
Jax 5 wins against sub .500 teams. 1 loss to sub .500 team, 3 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.
Cincy 5 wins against sub .500 teams, 1 win against teams with 7 or more wins.
Chicago 5 wins against sub .500 teams, 2 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.
Cowboys 5 wins against sub .500 teams, 2 losses sub .500, 2 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.
Panthers 5 wins against sub .500 teams, 2 losses to sub .500, 1 win against teams with 7 or more wins.
Giants 6 wins against sub .500 teams, 1 win against teams with 7 or more wins.
San Diego 4 wins against sub .500 teams, 1 loss sub .500 team, 2 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.
Pitt 5 wins against sub .500 teams, 1 loss to sub .500, 2 wins against teams with 7 or more wins.

McMahon's job is not to put up 300 yards passiing but to just keep the game close and not make mistakes.
The only thing i'd look to do that is different is a few shots deep since Seattle has been known to self impode on themselves.
Gado was held in check last week outside of one big run for a TD. Also GB has not been winning games but have played most teams very close.
The key is to make baldy win the game, not alexander.

Vikes get the Lions in Detroit this week. With the roll they are on and the turmoil in Detroit, this should be an easy win for Minnesota. But this is the vikes we are talking about, so all bets are off. Fortunately the way the Vikes play ball contol now with Brad Johnson at QB and the running game has improved, they should match up well with the Lions run D which ranks 26th in the league. Should be 5 in a row.

Bills v Dolphins this week in one of the NFL's great rivalries, as they say it "throw away the record books for this one" and in this case they'll have to as both teams enter the contest at 4-7.
But should they??? In this year where the Pats lead the division at 6-5, a Bills win and Pats loss at home to the Jets means a showdown for the AFC East lead in Buffalo on the 11th. Imagine that!
Ok, now that I'm done LMAO for even thinking that such a thing will happen the truth of the matter is this...
The Bills haven't won on the road all season, and they won the first meeting of the two teams by building a 17-0 lead on the backs of the Fish setting a franchise record for penalties in a single game, and then was sent reeling in the second half as the Fins closed the gap, falling 20-14 after a Miami drive ended at the Bills 20 on a controversial fumble call(whatever the referee called on the field would have held up under review, and was) against a Bills D that couldn't stop a Matchbox car.
Expect Miami to keep rolling, and the Bills road struggles to continue....Fish 24, Buffalo 13.
And with that the Bills front office(That means you! Tom Donohoe  ) can finally wake up and smell the coffee and admit the team they've built is now the Arizona of the AFC now that they will have missed the postseason for six straight seasons.

Akers kicked 4 fg's on sunday
kicked the game winner against oakland with a torn hammy.
Won the GB playoff game by kicking a FG to send it to OT, then the game winner in OT.

After Sunday we'll know for sure if there will be a race in the AFC West after all.
First off Denver will be comin to Arrowhead to face off against KC. If the new Plummer can handle the most hostility he's faced all year, then Denver can at least maintain their 2 game lead. But if the old Snake comes back, we've got us a race.
The Raiders are reduced to spoilers as they come to the Q. If the Bolts work out the kinks of last week's blip on the radar screen, then the streak can reach 5, and with a KC win over Denver, can control their own destiny in the West.

As far as the NFC goes, Pokes/Gints game probably has the most effect on the NFC.
If Dallas wins, The gints still have road games in Philly, Washington and Oakland. Based on the gints road record, these games are not walks in the park for them. I can see them losing 2 of the 3 and then being in a must win situation when KC rolls into NY.
If Dallas Loses, they still have a home game vs KC and tough road games at Carolina and Washington.
Atlanta still has 2 games to play vs Carolina and a very tough outside road game in NE.
Tampa still has to go to Carolina and N.O. always seems to split with them (not counting on that this year).
This leaves the door WIDE open for MN to make a run. Their tough games are at home (Pitt and Chicago). Washington, Philly and the Rams are sitting at 5-6 but based on some of these schedules, one of them may have an outside shot at a run. I’d say more so with Washington because they can beat Dallas and the Gints at home rather than rooting against them in other games.
IF and I say IF Chicago continues to win, they have a decent shot at homefield. That Defense at home in the cold…. That could actually carry them very far.
As usual, Just sayin….
HOLLA.

Dec 2 2005, 10:22 AM
I agree with PF's assessment of the NFC.
Of all the teams mentioned, the Rams has the least amount of chance to make it because they pretty much have to win out the remainder of their games. They still have to travel to Minnesota & Dallas and host Philly at home and I don't see them winning all three of those games.

Well having to root against other teams is what makes the stretch run so much fun. At least there is something to root for still, not much but still something.
As for the weather report for Monday... 38/20's with a nice wintery mix. If that is the case, it comes down to a running battle. McMahon's legs might actually be an asset in that game.

Boy i hope those Giants were Really impressed that we yell alot. They were not, the rest of the NFL was not.
SURELY you can do a better job with observations than that... 9-2 going against a 5-6 team with 11 players on the IR (3 of the pro-bowlers). I'd think you could find SOME advantage over the typical "meany" line....

Regardless of snow or not the players of both teams play in the same weather,so I don't buy the weather nonsense. The team that wants the game more is the one that wins and talent plays a factor. If you can't win in bad weather and you are supposed to win, then you're a fraud.

A good team should be able to handle bad weather. Speaking of which, the AccuWeather.com site seems to be the first to go out on a limb, predicting 3 to 6 inches of snow for Monday night into Tuesday morning (so I guess most of that would fall after the game is over).

After missing a week due to work and holiday travel, I'm back with my Week 13 picks and preview.
Atlanta @ Carolina - The Falcons have won 3 in a row against the Panthers and had the luxury of a long break after playing on Thanksgiving. 2 of their last 3 games have been gone to OT. This one should be close as well. Carolina will start to build up momentum heading to the playoffs. Panthers, 27-24
Buffalo @ Miami - The Dolphins will look to their running game to win the game using a time consuming offense to keep their banged up defense off the field. With their LBs banged up, McGahee could have a big day. However, I think the Bills stay winless on the road. Dolphins, 13-10.
Cincinnati @ Pittsburgh - Cincinnati needs to win this game to avoid traveling back to Pittsburgh or New England in January. The Bengals gain a little credibility with a road win against the Steelers. Bengals, 33-27.
Dallas @ NY Giants - The Giants defense has been very stingy at home. The Giants need to win this game considering they still struggle to win on the road and 3 of their last 4 are away from the Meadowlands. I thought Dallas played a great game against Denver on Thanksgiving and should have won that game. The Cowboys biggest problem this year is putting teams away. Giants win this at home. Giants, 20-17.
Green Bay @ Chicago - My upset pick of the week. I think Favre wins this one with his arm. The Packers have nothing left to play for except to show they can still beat the best on any given Sunday. Plus the Bears are due for one of those head-scratching games. Packers, 28-21.
Houston @ Baltimore - Not wasting any time on this one. Ravens, 9-6.
Jacksonville @ Cleveland - Jacksonville wraps up a 3 game road trip at the Dog Pound with David Garrard as their QB. Meanwhile, the Browns are playing pretty solid football but are considering a banged up Trent Dilfer as their best QB option. I like the Browns running game against a Jacksonville team that should be a little tired, both physically and mentally. Browns, 20-17.
Minnesota @ Detroit - One of the scariest things an NFL team can face is a team that has nothing left to play for. The Lions fired Mooch, have had a long break since their last game, and had a little internal conflict. And I think most coaches would agree that a little internal conflict is good, it keeps your players aggressive and makes them play with a chip on their shoulder. One of the good things about the Lions being a young team is that they may be able to shake off the drama and show up on Sunday to just play football. Meanwhile the Vikings are trying to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Vikings will need to rely on Moore and their running game and just continue to play solid football in all phases of the game, special teams, offense and defense. The Vikings 4 game win streak started with a victory of the Lions. They stretch it to 5. Vikings, 27-21.
Tampa Bay @ New Orleans - The Bucs should be excited about this weekend. They can get some help from the Falcons who always seem to beat the Panthers, so as long as the Bucs take care of their own business they have a chance to make it a 3-way tie for first place in the NFC South. The Saints are still just waiting for this season to end. Bucs, 24-10.
Tennessee @ Indianapolis - McNair showed he can still put up big numbers, unfortunately for him he doesn't get to play the 49ers every Sunday. Colts, 37-24.
Arizona @ San Francisco - The Cardinals can't run the ball but pass very well. The 49ers have the worst passing defense. Warner should attempt 50 passes this game. Cardinals, 28-24.
Washington @ St. Louis - Washington has struggled on the road this year, and while I'm not a Fitzpatrick believer, I think the Rams take care of business at home. Rams, 20-17.
Denver @ Kansas City - Denver will look to run wild over the Chiefs again, like they did earlier this year. KC's linebackers will have to step up and have a huge day to shut down the Denver running backs who also got to benefit from a long break. KC should look to get T-Gon involved early, and if the Broncos put Bailey on him again, they need to take their game vertical and burn the Bronco's deep. I don't beleive in KC's defense. Broncos, 28-27.
NY Jets @ New England - Jets blow on the road. Pats, 27-10.
Oakland @ San Diego - LT always has huge games against the Raiders. Playing on Sunday night LT should have continue the trend with about 140 yards and 3 TDs. The Raiders will look to exploit a weak Chargers secondary. It should be a game worth watching as it displays the best running back and best wide receiver in the NFL. The Chargers win at home to keep their playoff hopes alive. Chargers, 31-24.
Seattle @ Philadelphia - Alexander has huge games in Prime Time games on Sunday and Monday nights. The Eagles aren't scared as they already shut down LT earlier this year. However, I think Alexander and the left side of the Seahawks offensive line are better equipped to do damage to the Eagles. Alexander may not top 100 yards in the game, but he should end up with 2 TDs. The Eagles have to hope their crowd has forgotten the last MNF game and comes prepared to hastle a Seahawks team that doesn't travel well. Hope isn't enough. Seahawks, 20-16.

The Steelers had 4 turnovers to the Bengals' none and still could've easily won the game. Still, the Bengals did win so give them credit. Chad Johnson was no factor, though.
And I don't know how the Giants can't seem to beat anyone easily with some of the talented players they have. Every game is a struggle. They should've whipped Dallas today; instead they barely hung on after Feely choked again.
