Some of the other inventory in Saddam's palaces was fascinating too: Kissinger books, works by Nixon, tons of Viagra, lots of kitschy artworks...it sounds like Edwin Meese III was Saddam's personal shopper!

I know you two harpies hate George W. Bush, and maybe his twin daughters, too. But the fact that Saddam's murderous son Uday -- the one who tortured members of the Iraqi soccer team just because he could -- had pictures of the President's daughters is creepy sick. Quite frankly, I don't see our wounded contributors saying one word when folks from the left toss around adjectives like "pathetic" and "moron," so the injured party routine seems more than a little a) hypocritical, and 
self-serving. Since we've digressed to a discussion of netiquette, I find the ALL CAPS equally rude. The ALL CAPS has become the accepted online norm for raising one's voice. I'm sure none of us would not do that in a casual offline conversation, I'm not sure why anyone would feel it's acceptable in an online one. Actually, Chelsea is looking much better these days, and her interesting facial features (I used to say that she was the lovechild not of Bill and Hillary, but of Bill and Marian Wright Edelman--I mean, look at that hair, that nose, those lips) are certainly appreciated in Europe, where the obsession with Aryan blondness went out around 1945 or so. (Actually only one of the Bushettes is a blond--the other's a classic brunette like her mother and grandmother.) Back to Chelsea, who's quite brilliant: she even has a boyfriend/fiancee.

Really find the comments about Chelsea Clinton to be especially distasteful. By all accounts, a really sweet woman who obviously has had to endure a lot of crap and now is building a wonderful life for herself dispite the good and bad shadows of her childhood.
Regardless of where we stand on the political issues - I think we all should be able to agree that the Clintons and the Bushes are excellent parents to their children -- and like most parents not perfect in raising their kids but doing their best. (see -- I found something nice to say about W:))
