Does this make sense? They nearly made the playoffs with Kitna. Shouldn't they at least make it a competition between the two instead of just handing the job to Palmer?

It should be a competition between the Kitna and Palmer--training camp could provide a lot of answers as to which one should be number one--but I guess the money being spent on Palmer made this inevitable. Especially since Kitna won't make waves about this; he'll choose instead to make appropritae comments (whatever's good for the team, if I'm meant to be a backup to Carson Palmer it's ok...) Even Mike Ditka disagrees with the move: "This is the best year Cincinnati has had since when? And you're going to change quarterbacks now because it's politically correct? Give me a break."

For a moment when I saw the title of this thread, I thought it referred to my cute fellow countryman Jesse Palmer, but as far as I know he is staying with the New York Giants, and will be featured on one of those reality-type shows that I never watch. Although I knew that Carson Palmer was a Heisman trophy winner, I didn't realize he saw no action at all last season in his back-up role in Cincinnati, as reported in the article below.
