The commentary above seems silly to me because I can't think of anyone on the left who thinks that CNN is a liberal leaning news outlet.

Does anyone actually watch/enjoy these news shows?
HornFan
No, I watch newscasts, not commentary.

Yes. The Brit Hume show on FoxNews is great. I watch it every night, just about. It's informative. Covers many issues not otherwise covered. He lets the interviewees tell their story and is good at asking just the right question.

A good friend of mine once described Brit Hume as neither biased left or right, he's just pure cynicism. And he meant it as a compliment.
shawnq
I've read in several places that Brit Hume had a son that committed suicide and that he may have done so because he was gay.

all this poll tells me is that fox news watchers need to get themselves some lives. have they nothing better to do on a friday night than watch greta, hannity, o'reilly, et al.?

Good point, thats alot of right wingers watching the tube on Friday night. I guess all the gun shows, tractor pulls and monster truck rallies must have been cancelled.

The one show close to this that I watch is Squawk Box on ... I guess it's CNNFinancial. Good objective comentary, witty remarks, and good insider guests. Now I wish I had more money to invest in the market.

I assume you're joking, but whatever. O'Reilly's on at 8. H&C at 9. Greta at 10. Over at 11. The night's still young in my book.

Moreover, the entire world is not under thirty. There are quite possibly plenty of older, middle-aged couples and even singles who consider watching the news doing something on Friday night. Just because the whole world isn't out at a club on Friday doesn't mean they don't have lives.

It is not like any of these news shows are actually drawing anything like a real viewership. I believe that even the highest rated program on the list comes in behind pretty much every channel's entertainment programming. When you are talking about a little of a little, it becomes basically irrelevant.

I guess I don't live your fabulous life, but for me, hitting the gym, then making it home in time to catch the 9:00pm rebroadcast of Brit Hume (and having time to play with The Dog) is a perfectly acceptable, perfectly enjoyable Friday evening.

I suppose you're out discussing baseball over cocktails with Theo Epstein and Bill James over at Fenway. Perhaps jetting down to Manhattan on the shuttle to catch "Hairspray" on Broadway. Or is it yet another lonely sad weekend night at some bar/disco/lounge, drinking yourself full, rationalizing away the emotional pain by convincing yourself that least you're not some conformist, brain-dead Stepford suburbanite sitting at home, watching TV?

Sorry that you seem to think that those who do not opt for your choices need to "get" "some lives". I'm quite happy with the one I got. (Most days).

Methinks you're not much of a jester.

You see folks...

I saw last week where Punk'd beat each and every show on CNN....

This is not a friday thing, or a saturday or even a monday thing... It's an everyday thing.

CNN has been falling and falling and falling ever since FOX News came on the air. What does all fo this show? Fair and Balanced beats liberal tv anyday.

On a side note, Nice to see larry king still on, i mean i thought that guy has been dead for a few years now, but in reality it was simply his show that was dead.

Lord have mercy on those that think FOX is fair and balanced.

First part: true.

Second part: don't know.

If you Google for \"brit hume's son suicide\", the first three hits are for sites touting conspiracy theories, such as:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/armageddon-o...e/message/16164

QUOTE
There was a rumor going around a few years back that Brit Hume's son, Sandy Hume, a reporter, was killed (committed suicide) because he was going public with documents about a Clinton-double. From the information I heard, this appears to have been a Faction#1 clone. They are known for their erratic behavior because their brain programming is not very stable. (Brit Hume is now working for Fox TV and was doing an Investigative Report on the Israeli connection in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack, and the Zionist lobby mobilized to shut him up from expanding his coverage. From this, my suspicion is that Group#1 gave orders to elements of Faction#1 to kill his son.)
Googling for \"sandy hume suicide\" brings up this site:

http://www.warroom.com/clinton.htm

QUOTE
ON Sunday, February 22nd, 1998, Sandy Hume, the 28 year old son of journalist Britt Hume, was reportedly found dead in his Arlington, Virginia home. Aside from the statement that this was an \"apparent\" suicide, there remains in place a total media blackout on this story, possibly out of concern that the actual facts will not withstand public scrutiny. Indeed, it was reported in Associated Press that the Arlington Police were not responding to any inquiries.

Hume was a reporter for The Hill magazine, newspaper about Congress for Congress....
And there's this:

http://www.thebird.org/host/dcdave/article...le1/030298.html

As for a coverup regarding suicides, they are generally not reported in the local newspapers. If I listen to the Alexandria and Arlingon police on my scanner just one hour a day, I can pretty much hear about one suicide per week. There will be no article about them in the _Post_. Only if the person committing suicide is "famous," such as the Secretary of the Navy-designate in Mexico last week, will the story appear in the paper.

There you have it. Either Sandy Hume was killed by aliens, or he was killed on the behalf of Bill and Hillary. I report; you decide. Fair and balanced; that's my policy.

how do these shows compare to the rest of cable

I'm watching Law and Order on TNT at 8 or a movie on HBO or Showtime.
ung
here's a not too relevant tangent to the last post.

TNT is owned by Turner Broadcasting (along with Cartoon Network, TBS Superstation, CNN, Headline news and assorted other networks)

HBO is part of AOL-TimeWarner just like Turner Broadcasting.

So it really makes little difference whether you watch TNT, TBS, CNN or HBO. Time-Warner thanks you.

Well it makes some difference, seeing as how at any given time they're all airing different programs. And if you don't like anything on those, there are about a billion other channels from which one is free to choose.

Amen brother.I didn't really know much about Faux News before, except that it was the illegitimate offspring of Sun Yun Moon and Rupert Murdoch. eek! Now I channel surf between Fox and MSNBC and I am astonished at how many conservative Rush clones are actually out there. And I'm not just talking commentators-the "news" anchors are a joke. It's hilarious how they continually lob softballs to the pro-Admin guests they interview. There are 2 or 3 of those cookie-cutter female anchors on Fox that sound like they came straight out of Nixon Youth or something. It's hilarious, and frightening at the same time.

And then the supposedly "liberal" commentators are a joke-like that guy Press who "spars" with Buchanon. rolleyes.gif Where do they get these morons? eek! It's like MSNBC is trying to be a Fox clone and hire all these right-wing nuts who have been coming out of the woodwork. Thank God for Chris Matthews-he's like the only person remotely objective on either station. wink
