Full Version: Hillary Clinton Visits Baghdad

First, President Bush had his photo op. in Iraq. And now it is Hillary Clinton! All of this is just too much to take. Watching President Bush amongst the troops holding a plastic turkey on a platter was sickening. And then yesterday, watching Hillary shake hands as if she was the "Queen of Baghdad", was equally as sickening. I wonder if the troops saved her any left-over turkey from Bush's visit. biggrin.gif

I reluctantly have been listening to these conspiracy theories and the motives behind Hillary's actions. This is all speculation, but one theory is that Hillary knows that none of the current Democrat candidates have a snowballs chance in hell of winning the presidency in 2004. So she is creating photo ops. to help her campaign in 2008. Of course, this is all speculation.

I bet she didn't have to sneak in and out like a grandstanding coward!

Actually, Hillary and Jack Reed (the Democratic Senator from Rhode Island) had planned their trip a while ago, they announced they were heading over to BOTH Afghanistan and Iraq--yes, the day that W skulked over to Iraq she was in Afghanistan meeting the troops there--and she visited BOTH places, meeting not only with the troops, but Iraqi citizens (who keep getting forgotten in all this talk about "liberation) and government officials.

Whether this is part of a future campaign, I don't know. But she made it clear she was going in advance, unlike W. She wasn't piggybacking on him--HE's the one that's got some explaining to do. Or rather, his sock-puppet Condoleezza has been doing it for him, grinning ear to ear as she breathlessly talks about how "moved" he was, blah blah blah....

Right on Hillary!

As a Navy veteran who endured his share of VIP visits while on active duty, I'd like to hear things from the troops' perspective. I.e., who got the better reception of the two?
