So instead of the flashy tell everyone off babe...

we get a boring snoozer of a speech that was turned off in 2 seconds....

GREAT! WAY to...zzzzzzzzzz
illini n milwaukee
PF, I'll assume that you liked the other speeches shown so far this week, cause you haven't complained about them like you have about Teresa's. It's pretty sad when her speech tonight is considered the 'low' of the convention and it was an average speech. Just shows how great the convention's been so far........

Glad you agree! biggrin.gif

I have repeatedly asked--demanded--for proof of Raze's and others' false contentions. To date, all I get is BS \"Uh, I saw it...\" comments so conveniently and systematically said by the same people, people with the same ricidulous agenda.
Poor pathetic MIB, nows he's playing the
martyr role, oh the suffering he goes through because of the conspiracy against him.

(By the way gang - our next meeting of the MIB conspicary group will be at the grassy knoll, its time again to review our "agenda." We may even have a special guest, that is if he is not lunching with his always credible "big wig" sources or overseeing federal court.)

I read in the article linked below that last night was the first time she's read from a TelePrompTer. So she can't give a speech. Who cares?

Let's see, so Ketchup hag is a great lady.. but she can't speak in public.... but that is ok.

W isnt the best public speaker and he's dumb...

GOOD JOB.

Someone tell her that they offer classes in both...

english as a second language AND public speaking at the local community college. It's not like she hasnt carpetbagged enough cash from dead husbands to do this.

I thought this was the politics and religion forum. Not the "lets mock someone because they speak with a funny accent and inherited money from a dead husband" board. This forum was once quite interesting, with great spirited dialogues between left and right leaning 'mos. But to see people get mocked because of their ethnic phenotype (e.g. jqueer's "looking too jewish comment") or linguistic history, is just plain painful.

Yeah, some may say that I need to develop a better sense of humor. And maybe my gay and black identities have made me admittedly extra sensitive here. But if we as gays and lesbians want the general public to respect us and our sexual differences, I'd hope we'd give a little respect as well for the differences in others.

Oh and by the way, many of us do not care if MIB is or is not a federal judge. May we please let the issue die?

Neptune, let me apologize for highlighting the quip by jqueer; given that some (BillW) have left the forum because of the sexist, misogynistic, and hateful comments of some posters, I thought I couldn't let pass what read like an ethnic slur. There have been pretty racist statements on this board before (cf. Nascar), but jqueer's comment wasn't intended to be and shouldn't have been read as one of them. jqueer is Jewish, and he meant it in a lighthearted way. He wasn't being nasty. MIB made some bombastic statement about my comments, but I'm sorry, if someone is making racist or sexist remarks, are we supposed to remain silent? Haven't we witnessed enough of this as homosexuals of whatever gender or color or religion, etc.?

Pholly can't help himself trashing women, gay people, the overweight, Arabs, Democrats, you name it--though if they're Republican druggies, DUIers, anti-gay phanatics, you name it, they get a GO card. For some time now he's been a typing Chernobyl of hateful epithets. GatorJamie has said that he's actually black, though when I posed the question to him on another thread, he never responded. Who knows? Others claim he's fun to drink with, so I guess it all depends on one's perspective.

When the main things that people can say about Teresa Heinz Kerry are attacks about her accent, her wealth, and the liveliness of her speech, you know they're commentary is bankrupt. She's an immigrant, so she has an accent. She married a multimillionaire and was widowed, so she's an heiress. Her style was muted, but the substance of her speech was impressive. She talked about her past, which included considerable political awareness (including marching against apartheid in the 1960s), and I for one found it refreshing and engaging. That's my take. If others can't deal with her accent, that's their problem. \"Shove it\" struck me as fairly innocuous; she's a private citizen who's been hounded by this right-wing paper, a Richard Mellon Scaife outfit, and its reporters. She's not the VP of the US insulting an elected official on the Senate floor, and she's not the President of the US insulting a reporter. But hey, she's no longer a GOPer, so she no longer gets a free pass, however innocuous her comments, anymore.

I agree that the issue of MIB's "judgeship" has grown tiresome, but at the same time, this person (man? woman? transperson? intersex?) claimed to be a judge on his profile once upon a time, yet now denies it. Perhaps he meant it as a joke, and perhaps he thinks that posters on here are so addled that they can't recall, though I'm sure the Outsports administrators might have a tape backup or something that would resolve this once and for all. At any rate, his flipfloppery has called into doubt a great deal of what he says, some of which is just utterly preposterous (cf. anything involving Hillary Clinton). He also is ideologically to the far right, yet claims to be...well, you get the picture. And he's no fan of...well, read his comments on Obama, Democrats speaking to black congregations, etc., and draw your own conclusions....

As I asked him before in the thread, jaki masz zawód? Many are curious to know the true answer!

Ask Raze. He seems to know everything, especially when it concerns his obsession with me.

Me, far right? That's a laugh. Having voted for Clinton, and planning on voting for Blagojevich, I wouldn't classify this as far right, or even a little right.

So then try elevating the conversation, instead of participating in the race to the bottom of the verbal barrel.

Please understand the distinction I'm making. While I'm not trying to censor anyone, questions regarding whether a politician is or is not telling the truth seem germane to a conversation about "politics and religion". So whether someone thinks Bush or Cheney or Teresa Heinz Kerry or Bill Clinton, etc... is a liar--I'm fine with the verbal flamethrowing on such issues.

I just don't see how calling Heinz Kerry "a ketchup hag" (or Bush a "chimp", for that matter), or comments on Whoopie's ethnic hairstyle are conducive to productive dialogue. Many of us read the Outsports board postings during breaks at otherwise dull office jobs. Sometimes a good comment willl make me laugh out loud, or think hard about an issue, or shock me.
But others are so offputting and so offensive that they make obvious why some have left the board.

Fantomas, thanks for the clarification regarding my comments. I've also realized that this is the internet, and the bad and good thing about it is that people can say whatever they want, even when it offends. I also acknowledge what you're saying about MIB, I too recall seeing his profile and the "federal judge" occupation. BUT, I still think focusing on trying to prove him a liar regarding his living (or whether he's polish) only serves to compound the problem of this board becoming the "Who's the real MIB?" show. Not that you're only to blame, since MIB often seems to instigate. But go after him on the issues. If you think he flip flops, or is a closet conservative, talk about that. However, it seems like a waste of time to focus on the personal identity of someone you or I will probably never meet in real life.

C'mon Philly Fan. How can you justify making fun of Theresa's accent, when you got Mr. girlie man, Ahhnold, the Gov. of Kulifornia??? oh, the hypocrisy!!!
TomFord
Well, the yahoos who don't get Teresa (she's such a gay-icon-in-the-making, she's got that whole Wise Old Trannie thing going on) have got to love Elizabeth Edwards. That she looks like your average overweight suburban mom helps. Very natural, very believable, very well-spoken. Even Bush-lovers have nothing bad to say about her. From a pro-Bush site:

QUOTE
She's so normal. And I, for a moment--just being tired and cranky--thought she didn't do as well as I anticipated she would. But she did do the trick. And emails from women readers are reflecting that already.

But Herr Arnold Gropenfuehrer ist ein Uebermensch und a Republikan, so das ist de Differenz.

Let's not forget, Teresa Heinz Kerry WAS a Republican. Maybe it's her apostasy that so enrages Pholly.

I'm with TomFord, THK has gay icon written all over her. And Elizabeth Edwards too--I bet she even has gay friends. Both families are easy on the eyes--well, except President Lurch. But I can get used to him just fine.

Her speech was nothing more than a staged attempt to make her look good to the people who would not normally see her running her mouth. Then everyone in the back held their breath to make sure she didnt tell anyone to screw off.

So when you watched her speech, it sucked. It was boring. It was staged.

exactly! i've gotten a few of those hateful pm's from "mr. (w)onderful" myself. the last two have come after his "departure." for the record, i stopped bothering to respond to any of them once he sent me an offensive message after i posted on here about my brother's death. it's clear to me that if his contributions to this board were written with a rightward slant rather than the opposite the person bemoaning his absence would instead be condemning his vitriol, which was on display here with regularity.

By not suffering fools gladly. BTW I don't think I've identified my political leanings on this board. To quote a line from Method Man, one of my favorite rappers, "You don't know me, and you don't know my style." And for someone who seems quite reticent about asserting a political affiliation, you're awful presumptuous about mine. Oh the hypocrisy!

Teresa Heinz Kerry has also helped the Democratic ticket to score points in the gay community. Speaking Wednesday before the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transsexual Caucus, Heinz Kerry wowed the crowd with her declaration that there would be a \"a mom in the White House who loves you.\"

When the audience gave her a standing ovation, she declared, \"You can call me Mama T anytime.\"

Ok, I didn't read the whole thread, because...frankly...it is way too long. But one thing that is popping up way too much in politics right now is finger pointing. Dick Cheney says something, every Democrat between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans jumps up and starts saying "Do you want this person leading our Country?"

Then Teresa Heinz Kerry says another thing, and every Republican between Mexico and Canada jumps up and says "wait, she said it too..."

Republicans always argue there is a double standard, and Democrats argue the samething, and you know what? It exists on both sides, it just depends on who is reporting it. When was the last time you saw a liberal portrayed in a positive light on Fox News?

Look, I'm a Democrat and a Liberal, I don't care that Dick Cheney told some crusty old man on the Senate floor to go "f**k himself" he probably deserved it, as did the reporter in Mrs. Kerry's case.

Give me what you stand for, let me bounce the issues around in my head for a minute, then I will give you my answer.

I'm more concerned with the fact that Dick Cheney has so many ties to Haliburton, and that they are the only oil company that is getting any kind of contracts in the Middle East right now.

I'm more concerned with the fact that all these former Haliburton exec's are getting appointed to bring about "change" in the Middle East by our government.

But I'm also concerned with who's pocket the Kerry's are in. Special interests always ring bells in my head, I guess I just have to decide who is lying less. And as of right now, I have to say I think that is John Kerry.
