I have been tipped off about a new book that is out by John Dean. Remember him from Watergate??? In the book I understand he is calling for Shrub's impeachment. Anyone know/heard anything else about this book?

Dean's been speaking about thebook for a couple of weeks now.

He calls the WBush administration the most secretive white House since the Nixon admin. I think he goes on to say that this White House has even more secrets and secret policies than Nixon.

I must say I believe that!

It's reviewed in today's (actually May 2 which comes inside our saturday paper) NYT Book Review. I remember he singled out the SEC investigation of Cheney as a case to watch during a speech broadcast on CSPAN.

I intend to buy this book. John Dean actually calls the BUSH administration 'scary'. It is scary. The world is a dangerous place due to the Bush whitehouses' policies.

Sergei: I agree, this will be a must read for me. Scary is right.

Fascinating that in general this book has gotten a media blackout, probably because so many books that are critical of W are already on the market. The telling thing about most of the books out now is how the authors can back them up with facts--Franken, Alterman, Conason, O'Neill, Clarke, Woodward, and now Dean--all have documented proof of their assertions, whereas during the 1990s, when we had to endure the endless spate of harangues against Clinton, quite a few, like David Brock's notorious tome, were pure invective with little basis in truth. Of course the media covered those like they were Scripture. Why isn't Dean's book getting more attention?

He of all these people would know from dirty tricks!

I take anything I read about this "war in Iraq" with a grain of salt since reporters were "embedded" with our troops. I wonder why the New York Times was scooped by the Post on the mistreatment of prisoners. Maybe it was just the luck of the draw, but this seems like a big miss by the rest of the media. Who to trust?
