First, we're sending troops to fight in Colombia's battle; then we've got this Iraq gambit geared up; and now we're sending 1700 soldiers to fight Islamic rebels in the Philippines? Is this a wise move? Okay, the Islamic rebels in the Philippines very well may have Al Qaeda ties, so I'm not completely against this, but I really do wonder if we're starting to bite off way more than we can chew, especially with the increasingly deranged moves of North Korea.

I am going to have do a little homework to get up to speed on this thread, but my gut reaction was (before I even finished reading the initial post), "We are going be spread TOO THIN, and actually CREATE the vulnerability that we did not EVEN HAVE before - the possibility that we COULD be attacked and in danger - from Iraq (although unlikely) or just about ANY nation/terrorist wanting to do America harm.

And what about the tension and anti-American sentiment that is escalating daily? As much as I would like to be traveling and working, I am afraid that if I got a job that required a transfer, the prospect would no longer be welcome.

What is a career going to be like if we won't be able to travel and work internationally, IN ADDITION TO being in danger at home?
