I hardly ever hear other men say that they are craving a certain kind of food.I personally am craving some kind of goodies just about every other day.Thank goodness,I don't have any goodies in the house otherwise I might devour them!I don't know what triggered the craving other than my personal love of chocolate. This diet truly has been the ultimate challenge because I am a serious junk food junkie who still has withdrawal symptoms every now and then.

I at least have cravings very frequently...

Give me FOOD!!! I am ALWAYS hungry!

Candy's never been my thing, but...

I will kill for a Cheeseburger from Melvins in Charlseton, SC; from King of the Frosties in Speculator, NY; Pats Diner in Alburg, VT; or from Charlie’s Kitchen in Cambridge, MA.

Want a favor done? Get me BBQ from Countrys Barbecue in Columbus, Ga just north of Ft Benning.

There are days when I would happily give everything I own for a piece of hot Apple Pie from Lakeside Farms in Ballston Lake, NY (Made with Northern Spy Apples)

Just point out the bodies and tell me if you want them shipped Fed Ex or UPS.

I have had to struggle with weight issues ever since my college days, so I understand you completely.

You want weird, I will give you weird. I now court that knawing empty feeling in the pit of your stomach. I think it keeps me more open and aware - awake - more on the edge. When I get really hungry these days I will slam a coffee protein shake and either swim two miles or run a quick 5k to get the high before I go back to work. Then I can concentrate better on my work while I knaw on some celery or an apple. Sick huh?

I wouldn't call it sick but definitely unique.
Of course now I just have to get the image of the apple pie that you mentioned out of my mind! wink

Over the years I have definitely developed some major food cravings. I have a very oddball body metabolism, that gets knocked out of whack very easily. For example right now my body is rejecting all meat and meat by products. Anything coming from an animal is off limits, including skim milk and butter. Its funny, but when this happens, my body almost demands lettuce.

When I work out heavily my body demands protein. I sometimes will cook up 2 pounds of hamburgers, or a bunch of chicken breasts just so I have them in the fridge as a snack.

I have noticed, particularly among people like myself, that drink hard alcohol almost exclusively, that we crave sweets when we stop.

I also of late have started CRAVING a piece of dark chocolate, or something like a SKOR bar immediately after eating. Like so bad I will get in the car and drive to WAWA and buy a piece of candy. I dunno I guess I am a freak LOL

I am not sure if this is a craving but I really enjoy salty food more than sweet food. I really love fried chicken and can tell you very quickly if the chicken has a good "scald" on it or not. (Southern Term) I really love North Carolina Pork BBQ too. Eastern North Carolina BBQ is made with a vinegar based sauce and man-o-man is it good. I haven't had NC BBQ in about 5 years since moving to Florida.

I cooked some pork spare ribs on the grill Sunday night and basted them with a sauce I made from vinegar, Texas Pete Hot Sauce , butter and Adobo. I have my Mother send me Scotts BBQ Sauce from Goldsboro, NC or you can order it online. My partner gnawed the bones clean. I had corn on the cob, creamed spinach and pinto beans with the ribs.

I usually cook Bok Choy as my greens but was out so the spinach had to do. The Bok Choy is very easy to cook and it's a cheap green!! Just wash the stalks and leaves very good. Cut the bottom off the stalk and throw away. Cut the stalk and leaves into small pieces and cook in a big pot with chicken broth and a little garlic, salt and pepper. Serve them right from the pot without chopping them anymore. They are delicious.

I have always enjoyed food that is more savory than sweet. Doritos over cake that is for sure!!

Alcohol in general has a lot of sugar but more so the hard stuff. When you stop drinking your body craves the sugar you are not consuming through alcohol. Like people quiting smoking...those that quit drinking also gain weight.

I get hungry, I suppose.......

I know for myself, I've been known, frequently, to wake up in the middle of the night and crave sweets--M & M's, chocolate bars, anything. I asked my doc about this, figuring it had to do with my training, so he said it could be a sign of diabetes. A gazillion tests later, I was fine, but the cravings haven't past. So I hear ya...

...peace,

I just love chocolate and usually have to fight the craving.

I have many food cravings. Sometimes for something generic ("I'd like something salty and/or crunchy"). Sometimes for something very specific ("I could really go for a Shamrock Shake."). I guess most of the time it's less a "craving" and more of a "hankering" - I can certainly ignore it most of the time. But when it moves into "craving" territory, I'll go out of my way - WAY out of my way - to get it.

One of the oddest cravings I have is for Twinkies. I guess that's not too unusual, but I get a craving for them extremely rarely. Like once every eighteen months or something. And when I get the craving, I start thinking about it all the time. Once I get to a 7-11 and eat one, though, the craving goes away completely...for about a year and a half, anyway.

it seems my body alternates on craving salty and sweet

there are some evenings where I'd kill for a piece of cake or something like that but after lunch, I crave salty snacks like Cheetos

I think part of my problem is that my body gets used to me feeding it the cake after dinner and cheetos with lunch and demands it every day

smokers will recongize that their cravings are strongest at the same time each day-the body expects the nicotine after meals or with that first cup of coffee or whatever

I'm the exact same as the guy above me...it's like two big genres: salty and sweet.

I couldn't agree more with you, theodoresdaddy. It seems like my body craves between salty and sweet tastes, but not with any food in particular.

Not much of a fan of sweets. I go for salty and starchy -- bratwurst, beer and spaetzel put me in the eighth heaven. :drool
Eddie, hope you're diet's going well. biggrin.gif

after moving east - i regularly have a craving for In and Out burgers - my buddies and i would get drunk all the time in school, ride down to the InO, and demolish burgers and fries. best damn fast food there is.
i pray they will make it to d.c. soon!

DC, Load up on a couple of boxes of frozen White Castles for the next time you get a glow. They heat up perfectly in the microwave and there's no need for any dangerous and risky driving. See if they don't satisfy your pangs! wink

I can't stand In and Out burgers; I rather eat McDonalds
MarcusF
Personally, I'd rather have a Thickburger from Hardees. biggrin.gif

I don't drink or smoke, so eating junk food is my vice. If I'm having a craving for something sweet, I will usually remain distracted until it's satisfied!
