The following is an article from the Dallas Observer which has a copy of a letter handwritten and posted in the Cowboys locker room on media day, which attacks a Dallas Morning News sports writer. Calls him a fag and the whole nine yards. The culprit is believed to be Roy Williams, but nobody has confessed to it outright. Mainly because theyre whiney bitches.

Since the column stated that they're publishing the letter unchanged or unedited, then the idiot(s) really wrote: "Sometimes you're cool and sometimes you are a (homosexual F)" instead of "...you are a faggot"? Weird...

Though they say the letter has been unchanged/unedited, I doubt that can be true, citing the phrase Joe mentioned and the following:

"If he knew as much about football as he does a bout (performing in a certain way on the manly seed) then maybe you could listen to his B.S. opinion."

Whether the letter had been edited does not take away from the essence of it nor the fact there is (no surprise) yet another incident of player(s) using homosexuality to diminish/demean people with whom they disagree but I wonder why the letter would have been altered for publication in the paper.

Gonzalez does say it was transcribed by a Dallas Morning News writer. So I would assume the writer didnt care to write down faggot or otherwise since they do have some (not much but some) couth at the DMN. The DMN is the main paper for the city and still refers to every person in articles as Mr or Mrs/Ms which isnt found in much journalism these days. The Observer on the other hand is more of the alternative entertainment newspaper every big city has now. But they make it their life's work to prod issues like our city government and local sports. (Gonzalez even ran for a congressional seat as a libertarian recently, which largely pokes fun at libertarians in general in his article about it).

Actually, besides the point these are pokes who did this... we dont expect them to be educated upstanding citizens... we expect them to be criminals...

However, to make a big deal about some note in a locker that someone saw... ummmmmmm... I'm sure alot worse things are said in a locker room.

Here is what the writer e-mailed me:
I didn't insert stuff into the brackets...and I can't be sure
whether the DMN writer did it, whether some one else did it before it
got to the DMN, or whether that's how it looked in its original form
(though I suspect, in its original form, it came complete with the real
terms and venom)...

As to why make a "big deal," I think we need to call out homophobia every time we see it. If we don't focus on it, who will?

How do we know they tolerated it and what was done internally (not that I'm in ANY way condoning this horrible behaviour)?

You can't deal with a public problem in private. They can hand out fines, punishment drills, revoke privileges. They can do anything they want, if the public doesn't know they've done it, they've allowed homophobic activity to stand. All they have to do is say they're dissapointed in whomever posted and wrote the note. Since they haven't, they are tacitly condoning the behavior.

I don't expect much public attention from Jones or Parcells regarding this. Jones just wants to win, and Parcells used the following phrase in a press conference not too long ago: "Hey, no disrespect to the Orientals..."

I'm a big fan of the Cowboys, but this is only another example of athletes picking on us fags in an attempt to prove masculinity...

Rumor has it this is the work of former OKLAHOMA SOONER, Roy Williams. You would think he would be comfortable with his masculinity now that he's hooked up with one of Destiny's Children not named Beyonce. :confused:

Maybe the Observer will address this more in the next weekly installment.
