I'm on MySpace, but I use it almost exclusively to network with people directly linked with my work. I'm not snooty, mind you - it's just that all my "friends" are actually people I need to talk to from time to time. Having them all as "friends" makes it easy to contact any of them or all of them.
If you're really interested, PM me and I'll send you the link.

I'm on myspace.com....
I've enjoyed it a great deal......I was telling a friend of mine just yesterday that I don't think there is a free site on the planet that offers so much ability for absolutely zero bucks!

I use myspace, but mainly use connexion.org:
http://www.connexion.org/viewprofile.cfm?id=6536 since it is mainly for gays and lesbians, encourages voting and participation in choosing our leaders, and is run by Denver gay millionaire/philanthropist Tim Gill.

I'm thinking you're single, huh?

Well, I am on myspace.com as well.
http://myspace.com/allenrobert as well as connexion.org.
I've met some really cool people from both sites.

Yeah I think the problem is you can't view my profile unless you either go to Virgnia Tech or you are listed as my friend (Reggie--now I bet if you click the link on the outsports page, it will work)
So I guess the only way to find me on facebook is to search for Josh Sarfity under Virginia Tech.

Okay, what's the difference (if any) with these sites and Friendster, and for that matter, any site where you can put up a profile of yourself? Someone else mentioned connexion.org. Are these sites really that great and that different from sites like gay.com or even Yahoo?

It seems like a good idea but I'm a high school teacher and "Myspace" is all my kids talk about and their pages, etc. It seems to me like there are only young kids on Myspace and I would be too old at 35.

Oh, what the heck. Do it. I did it at age 45. There are not a lot of us over 35, but you still meet a few nice people.
http://www.myspace.com/westrnslpeStill, I like Connexion.org best since users can be certified (picture taken with a hand-written user number) to show they are legitimately who they are. I am amazed at all the 19 year old "straight" boys on Myspace who use pictures of gay porn stars as their pictures.

As I aluded to above, I mainly joined myspace to network with people important to my work. To be more specific, almost all of my "friends" are bands and musicians in this area, or somehow related to same. The bands all love myspace because it gives them a great forum to host mp3s of their material, alert their fanbase about upcoming shows, and whatnot. And I'm there because...well, because they're there. Sometimes it doesn't matter if the site is "better" or not, it matters who is using it.
That said, Player, it might seem like there are nothing but 19-year-olds (with fake photos) on there, but trust me, there's plenty of (somewhat) older people, too. When I just run a search for people who went to my high school who are roughly my age, I end up with 25 matches.

http://www.myspace.com/westrnslpe Yep...I'm 44.....its funny, I've only sent out two friend requests, the rest are people who've "asked" me....its actually helped me feel less uneasy about our youth these days...there are young people out there with minds they actually use....its fostered alot of discussion with kids who are seeking the knowledge of us "older guys".....
I always wished when I was younger (and struggling with my sexuality and place in life), I'd had a sort of older gay man to talk to.....now, at least I'm getting the chance to be that man for others....pretty cool.

i had an amazing wonderful 28 yo gay man who i was able to talk to when i was closeted and felt alone. we found each other over the internet a few years back and we are still in touch. but yeah, he basically showed me what gay could be. he was very similar to me, and i felt that if he was gay, then hell, it was ok for me to be gay too bc i was proud of him and respected him. i never had that kind of role model before.
now i find myself in similar situations with young guys on myspace and what not, then it turns into online talks. it feels great to help others, but also some times they get very attached because you become their one gay outlet, which can be hard when someone is constantly there you know.
here's myspace

im only 18, came out a year ago...but for at least a year prior to that it was thanks to older guys that I made it lol
'specially with my conservative christian family and them trying to shelter me from crap, it was hard to find anyone to talk to. Thank god for the internet.

Understood.
I've found myself in situations where a young man can't make one figurative step without seeking approval prior.....it becomes a fine line between guiding and directing....I don't want to tell anyone what they need to do....I only want to give them points to ponder....if that makes sense.

thanks azairforce. and i know what you guys mean. i never tell someone what they should and should not do. i just show them that i am a positive succeful person, lead my example, but i never tell them what to do. because for me, the special one that helped me out did just that. he showed me what gay could be, and what i always knew i was.

Congratulations on stopping an identity thief. Again, one of the reasons I like connexion.org is the certification pictures that are hard to co-opt. Still, the thief had good taste. You're a great looking guy! ;-)

I have myspace. Never heard of facebook. Myspace is addictive, as we are called myspace whores. Im just amazed by the number of overly hot and adorable teenagers/early 20s gay boys that live in Dallas. Actually kinda makes me sick. But then again the internet is not reality, so these people cant all exist. Can they? Oh bother :-|

Yeah we had the Villa Park Classic for polo and a meet for relays as well early in the season. We were DI for CIF...after I graduated we got bumped to DII when they releagued though. Closest we ever got was my sophmore year when we beat Mission Viejo to take 2nd behind Irvine

. I graduated in 2003.
I remember SCAT cause we always made fun of it for its name back in my age grouper days. One of my old coaches is actually coaching there now I think. Anyways, I swam for ORCA but I stopped swimming club when I started playing polo for them. Lotta my friends ended up swimming for Nova or Zot though.
