After last year's disastrous showing by the Chief's defense, they're going on a FA signing spree. Wheeeee!!!

- LB Shawn Barber
- CB Dexter McLeon from St. Louis.
- Expect an announcement tomorrow morning that Hugh Douglas is locked in. He's been in KC for two days, had a physical this afternoon, and dinner with Vermeil and owner Carl Peterson again this evening. Local sports radio reports that Hugh's agent is "very busy".

I looked around on the net for anything on the hugh issue, i see nuttun... are you pulling everyone's leg?

Did see this

Boston to SD, when the gosh darn !$#%@#^%^&&^*%#^!@#$**^%$@#!$% are you going to bring in at least one big name player to take a look at? At least tease the fan base....

Really wasn't pulling your leg! Just telling you what they said on local sports talk radio. Later in the evening they said Hugh was visiting NY (I think) today, and that he might be overpriced, but most are still expecting him to sign with KC.

If he made it out of KC without signing, there is still hope that he comes back... If KC is not looking to overpay for him, even the eagles would match a fair contract...hopefully.

The Chiefs may have already blown their wad in big signing bonuses. According to the Kansas City Star, they may not be able to compete if Seattle, NY, and Philly get in a bidding war for Hugh. There's still hope for you P-fan. Don't crack open that 6-pack yet. Well, umm, not because of this anyway. Speaking of 6-packs, I think there's one calling my name. Only 45 more minutes til quittin' time.

Article from the KC Star.

Hugh has made it clear that he wants to go to a winning team... so why he would consider the hawks, i dunno...

Gut feeling is that he comes back to philly.... the longer he stays out, the better chance there is for that. Rumor is that the gints wanna get in a bidding war for hugh, see if the eagles will match it hurting their salary cap. stupid ny gints....

Speaking of six packs, i need to hit the gym tonite and what i wouldnt give for a nice 6pack of yuenglins black and tan...

From what I've read the Giants are not in great cap shape and may not be able to pay a lot for Douglas. Curiouser and curiouser...

I saw, think it was kffl.com, that the giants just wanted to get into the fray and drive up any price the eagles would match for his salary.. thus hurting the eagles cap numbers... That would be scary strahan working runyun and hugh takin thomas to the woodshed...

then again would the fat man ever overspend for anyone no matter who... well except dmac the only one they are willing to overpay...
Joe in Philly
The problem is, if the Giants make a huge offer that they really can't pay, what if Douglas says "yes" and wants that contract? They'll look stupid and low-class.
PhillyFan
Well you know they are the gints, they have to be low class... make the iggles pay more for hugh and you hurt their cap... ie if they would have went on a bidding war for mitchell, but we all know they werent paying anything more than the min for bmitch.

I did hear that if hugh leaves... the back up plan is to go after the GB DE, cant pronounce or speell the damn name, giving up their 1st round draft pick for him.... he's younger than hugh. Hugh will be sorely missed.. tough to see a guy like that go when you've been rooting for him so long.... what i have to buy a new jersey now? all about the bengis i swear...

I was thinking that the Giants would look bad to other free agents, so that they might have more trouble signing players in the future.

And my guess is the Eagles have a certain price in mind that they're willing to pay, and if Douglas gets an offer that's one penny higher they'll let him go. So the Giants making an offer that they aren't serious about wouldn't really hurt the Eagles' cap numbers.
