I'd say you posted this in the wrong place, but the moderators will take care of moving this thread. Meanwhile, inquiring minds need to know where you were born and raised...

Respect from me...hummmm...NEVER!

How can parcells coach now? Martin is the RB for another team... Bill-a-check (heh) has a coaching gig...

The going is much tougher in Dallas, not to mention there is an owner who "thinks" he knows talent better than anyone else.. hence their horrible drafts. With that O, the girls are lucky to score 10 a game this year.

This is way more than a 1 year turn around job down in dallas. Especially, after the mess he's had to start with...

I guess it depends on an individual's definition of respectable. I consider a RETURN to the playoffs as commanding at least some respect (PF is exempt of course wink ).

I think it takes at least two years to get back in the playoffs because while the defense is pretty darn good, the offense...? I think the O-line has improved (although it's early and there's some headgames going on with Larry Allen) and we finally (I miss Jay Novacek sad.gif ) have a decent Tight End or two, but we need a QB and a decent Running Back and some "gel time".

Cowboys have (by far) exceeded my expectations this year as they have clinched a playoff spot with one game remaining in the regular season. Thank you "Tuna Helper"! biggrin.gif

Carter must be one of the most improved QB's in the league. He seems to benefit from Parcell's tough-love method.

Here is my take: I was bred, born and raised on Cowboys Football. My home town is a few miles from Mission, Texas, birthplace of the great Tom Landry. As far as I'm concerned, the Cowboys earned respect this season for making it to the playoffs. I was tense all season...sure it was ugly much of the time. But given the last few years, this team has started to communicate and act like the Team they are deep down. Will I be thrilled if they capture the NFC East top spot again? Of course. Will I be surprised if they go on to the Superbowl? Hell, I will be shocked. Bottom line. Everything after making it to the playoffs for this Parcells team is gravy to me. He has something to build on...and dammit he will. And for all his ego, Jerry Jones loves to win more than he loves himself, if you can believe that. And kudos for him 'cause I know it has been hard to move into the shadows and let Bill do his ass-kicking best. The Boys do better with a tough Daddy coach who tells them where the cow ate the cabbage. Part of that is our fault, the fans in Dallas, 'cause we love to spoil our Boys. That's ok. We will keep spoiling them, as long as there is someone at Valley Ranch to slap their hands when they have too much sugar. Damn...it breaks my heart to be living in San Fran now...but absence has made this Blue and Silver heart grow fonder. How 'bout dem Cowboys?!?

I thought I was being optimistic by saying I thought the Cowboys could go 7-9 or 8-8 this year and make the playoffs next year, but I didn't count on the Cowboys improving as dramatically as they have under Parcells.

I would think it would have taken a lot longer to weed out the negative personalities on the team or to get the team to buy into what Parcells wanted to accomplish. After the laissez-faire regime of Dave Campo (who probably couldn't do much with Jerry Jones's foot permanently lodged in his ass), going to training camp with the Tuna must have been a culture shock. Parcells is known for running training camps in boot camp style, and we saw what happened with the Redskins when a coach with a similar pedigree took over (Schottenheimer)... there was damn near outright mutiny.

Parcells took Quincy Carter, a guy who had the physical tools but perhaps not the mental focus needed and molded him into a better quarterback. Several guys (I think Roy Williams in particular?) didn't do much preparation until Parcells got there. Now, he's a film room fiend. The attention to detail and the discipline has probably added at least two wins to the Cowboys by themselves. Add to it the experience of having turned teams around previously, and there's a lot to be proud of if you're a Cowboys fan.

Too bad Parcells can't coach the Redskins.

The "gift" victory from Jim Fassel to the Cowboys in week 2 is what catapulted this team to where they are now. You never give the ball back to a team when you had the chance to run out the clock.

This loss devastated the Giants' season and lifted the Cowboys. Plain and simple. The team was lacking confidence and in a fragile state of mind until Fassel gave them all the confidence in the world they needed. Remember they had lost their first game at home to Atlanta and were on their way to blowing this big lead against the Giants until Fassel displayed his inability to make vital decisions in the final seconds.

So Cowboy fans should thank the Giants for two gifts. Bill Parcells and Jim Fassel.

It's not like a talented Cowboy team as they were in the past. They are more like an upstart team playing just on emotion.

I don't much care for Texas. Hate her politics, her climate, most every politician she's produced in the last half century, and, of course, her sports team. America's team indeed.

And as a Patriots fan, I have lasting resentment toward Bill Parcells, for the way he let his won ego get in the team's way during a playoff run. He got us to the Superbowl, but if could have waited three weeks to start feuding with Bob Kraft, the team could've beaten Green Bay.

Having said all that, Parcells has to be one fo the three or four greatest coaches in the history of the game, and his work this season proves it.

Hats off to him and the 'Boys. No one, and I mean no one, could have predicted this.

Imagine the field day the press will have if the SuperBowl happens to be NE v. Dallas, Old Bill v. New Bill. My guess, it's one of the top two or three hoped for match-ups in in the FoxSports boardroom.

For that reason alone, it's a matchup to root against.
