QUOTE
Better enjoy the glimpse below from the
2006 New York Firefighter's calendar: It might be the last one you see.
Some FDNY brass want to kill the annual fund-raiser because they don't think it's dignified for the Bravest to be the Barest.
\"Its official name is the 'Calendar of Heroes,' and the thinking is that these shirtless calendars aren't an appropriate way to present heroes,\" says someone familiar with the debate.
The calendar, which has been published since 1996, raises about $250,000 a year for the FDNY Fire Safety Education Fund. A rep for the fund would not deny that its future was in doubt, saying only: \"No comment.\"
i'm gonna miss my bravest's annual calendar.

I buy the calendar each year. I've always felt if I was going to have a calendar on my wall, it might as well have half-naked men on it. wink
It'd be a real shame if the calendar gets nixed - it does raise a lot of money for charity and, in my opinion, there's plenty enough dignity in that alone. And the pictures are not at all scandalous or salacious ... the guys just have their shirts off. Not even the hint of an off-color joke about hoses anywhere. Some people are so uptight.

I usually get that one, the South Florida one, and the Houston one, and each month the hottest of the three goes up in the office...

I have that FDNY calendar in my room. It brightens my day along w/ my Tom Bianchi calendar.
You can tell I'm excited.

Aside from the suicide attempt, I think it's a really nice story. Kind of a Jean Shepard Gone Queer!

Rusty's story is freakin' hilarious. My favorite line is "Mother almost choked on her tomato aspic."
and the hot firemen aren't bad, either. The critics are probably just mad that The Gays are buying the calendar.
