From the Associated Press:
"A carpet shark about two-feet long bit the leg of Luke Tresoglavic north of Sydney, Australia--and held on so tightly that the man swam 1,000 feet to shore with the carnivore attached to his leg.
On shore, the shark still wouldn't let go, so Tresoglavic, 22, walked to his car, drove to a lifeguard post and walked inside, with the shark still hanging on.
'There's nothing in our procedure manual for that,' lifeguard Michael Jones said. The creature let go when the lifeguards flushed its gills with fresh water, and it later died. Tresoglavic was taken to a hospital with 70 puncture wounds."

If they guy had driven around for another hour or so, wouldn't the shark have probly died from dehydration? I want to know what happened to the shark!

Bobby, according to
news accounts via the Australian Broadcasting Corp. once Luke reached the clubhouse
"the lifeguards flushed the shark's gills with fresh water, forcing it to loosen its grip on Tresoglavic's leg -- with blood oozing from 70 needle-like punctures. The shark later died"....how many of us would have been able to remain that calm and continue to think as clearly as this Australian did WHILE A LIVE SHARK IS ATTACHED TO YOUR LEG?....even when he finally reached the clubhouse Luke simply asked "Can you help me get it off?" and added "there was a side of humor to it"....if I'm ever in Sydney and encounter a stressful situation I know one guy I'd like to have on my side.
