Usually briefs, but occasionally boxers. Tried boxer briefs but never really found them that comfortable.
Eric Swanson
I prefer briefs or (occasionally) boxer briefs; boxer shorts are simply not comfortable for me.

On other guys, anything goes - especially jock straps!
timber07
I prefer boxer briefs with the suit thing during the weekdays; on weekends I'm more into the briefs and a pair of short; I sleep in a jock strap.
metromathis13
I'm very boring when it comes to underwear...I only wear boxers. Boxers to school, boxers to bed, boxers on weekends, boxers when going out...I am just a dull person in that respect.
BBall6'9
Can someone please explain the jock strap thing to me? I have a friend who almost lost his mind trying to find different color jocks, why?

Is this just a preference, or am I missing something?

Please enlighten me.

All Star Jocks Jocks of all Color Here's my favorite web sit for quick easy purchase of jocks - all sizes, colors and textures. I'm a boxers type of guy but I love wearing jocks when I workout. Also I still have many fantasies about meeting hot jocks (ever since Jr. High) at the gym and finding a secluded spot of the locker room for a fast and furious romp. tongue.gif tongue.gif

When it comes to sleeping in a jock while in bed, I think it has something to do with sleeping naked while not sleeping naked. I don't know...I guess it goes back to high school when I first started sleeping naked, I just can't sleep comfortably in any clothing at all.

Boxer briefs to work...Boxer briefs if going out...Jock Strap when wearing wranglers and sleeping...nothing at all! Take Care Guys, Vince

Interesting that people still wear jocks for sports, I think it is more of a fashion statement or a turnon than functional clothing. In high school and college everyone wore jocks, it was necessary for working out and playing sports. But since compression shorts arrived, I have always competed and worked out in them. They are much more comfortable than jocks and I think give about as much support.

But I agree with batboy and Eastsidewa that jocks are really sexy and are part of fantasies, those locker room scenes in my mind's eye with guys walking around in jocks are just wonderful.

This is interesting. When I run I usually wear a jock and the compression shorts. The jock gives me support and the compression shorts help keep my legs from rubbing each other.

I guess its started back when older guys in the locker room would wear them - I couldn't wait for puberty to wear one too! I've loved em ever since. wink

They look great on physically fit guys, especially when I see it at my favorite gym in Chicago ... Steamworks. biggrin.gif

And when the wind chill gets below zero, as it did for almost a week lately ... longies (the synthetic thermals that "breathe" and stay dry, not the old cotton ones that would eek! get damp in the crotch). Dorky, I know, but freezing to death is not comfortable. Fortunately, that's only a week or two a year (plus the occasional football game or similar event).

I think long john's and flannel shirts are a hot combination (no pun intended). But since I moved to Florida three years ago all of mine have stayed in the closet (no pun intended again). Maybe I should take some winter trips up north? tongue.gif

Was readeing this thread and wanted to comment on two things.

Frist, I don't think jock straps are just a fashion statement. For guys over the age of 35 (that includes me) that is what we grew up wearing for sports. In my high school locker room close to 100% of the basketball, football and baseball players wore jocks every day for practice and not just to keep a cup secure. If you grew up wearing a jock under your shorts or sweats it is just part of the routine of getting ready to work out and they are comfortable and provide good support.

Second, I am surprized by how few men responding to this board have said they wear briefs on a regular basis. There must be more brief wearers out there since no matter what store you walk into, whether it be a high end department store or a discount retailer over half of the underwear is briefs.

As for me, I like variety. I wear briefs, boxers or a jock and normally sleep in whatever I was wearing that day although on occasion I prefer to sleep naked. Freeballing is fine with jeans or shorts, but generally only when I am hanging out at home or spending a day running errands. When I actually get dressed to go to work or go out someplace I almost always wear some type of underwear.

It seems to me - from my unscientific locker room gazing that almost no one under the age of 35 -maybe up to 40 wears briefs. But that leaves a lot of guys that are older who never will change to boxers. I love boxers but many men in thier 40s & up don't. In the early 70s I never saw anything but briefs in our boys high school locker room. Boxers were for old farts like our Dads. NOW the young guys grew up on seein THEIR Dads in briefs, so briefs represent "old men undies" to them ! - Fashion goes in cycles. Now boxerbriefs are a good alternative I think, comfy but how do they look with a beer belly??? Anyone, Anyone?? Speaking of beer bellies - 20 years ago a lot of guys seemed to be proud of those. Strange huh?

In general, I have no problem with a "beer belly" on another guy; ...and you don't have to drink beer to get one either!

I just have good genetics, too, I guess that helps to keep the little belly from turning into something unsightly. smile.gif

99% of the time, I wear a thong; I find them to be the most comfortable, generally.

The most comfortable thong EVER (which also makes it the most comfortable underwear ever, since a thong is already the most comfortable...) is the Jockey "next to nothing" thong..
bobby78751
We can add Matt LeBlanc to the "nothing at all" category. On last evening's Entertainment Tonight, it was reported that in the latest issue of InStyle magazine, Matt admits to hating boxers and briefs. smile.gif

I love boxer briefs. I used to wear briefs (and I still do when I run out of boxer briefs), but I hate how Mr. Happy seems to get tangled and bunched in briefs. I never have that problem with boxer briefs.

To sleep: nothing at all.

bobby lol, I saw that little part of their show and I was just wondering what the hell........a whole segment on what celebrities wear to bed? I guess I just don't understand television.

Either briefs or boxer briefs. Definitely not boxers — I don't like the way they look or feel.

Anything goes with other guys, especially jock straps. I can't explain why, but the sight of a stud wearing nothing but a jock — or pulling his jeans down to expose his jock — turns me on like nothing else.

I never played sports in high school or college, but I've always enjoyed the thought of locker room sex with a hot athlete or coach. Perhaps that explains the jock strap fetish.

I like Banana Republic's boxers.....they actually have some length to them for us that are over 6 feet tall (which many stores FAIL to recognize). Some of these stores make their boxers so short, I feel like I'm wearing loose hot pants! Ahhhh!

Someone also bought me a pair of Burberry boxers in that beige plaid........so I always have a good laugh when I see some woman with a purse or what not in that same print, nice to know that your purse is what my underwear look like! Mwahaha.

I like Polo boxer briefs the best......
ITJock
Boxer briefs except when I go to the Gym or Play(a Jock), or when I am wearing Jeans(Commando).

I really NEED the extra support though; the real trouble is finding anything with a pouch large enough - why do designers assume everyone is endowed equally?

Buying an 2xl Jock just means a larger waistband - not what you need where it counts. Seems stupid.

Used to tick me off when I was playing ball - I could never find a cup that protected everything.

Definately complaining - I don't have to brag - you get hit in the nuts eek! a few times because you can't fit inside a regular jock or cup ohmy.gif and see how quickly your attitude changes...chuckle;->

In another thread, savvy posted

I thought I'd bring up the classic topic of boxers versus briefs. Some thoughts. If you ask an American woman which is sexy on a man and MOST of them will say boxers. Ask a gay man which is sexy and they OVERWHELMINGLY say briefs.(forget the popular boxer-briefs for a moment).

I don't mean to be flippant but if boxers haven't gotten the approval of homosexual men, can they really be considered sexy? My theory is that half of the american female population don't truly get the word "sexy". They may prefer boxers on a man, but it doesn't mean that they find it sexy, just tasteful or inoffensive. In other words, boxers are completely devoid of any carnal sexual thought. This is proven by the fact the most men wouldn't feel uncomfortable walking out of their house in boxers and picking up the newspaper on the drive-way in front of the neighborhood kids.

Briefs on the other hand get derogatory nicknames such as "banana hammock" or "torpedo speedo." But doesn't this just prove that briefs are sexier? These nicknames that allude to the "penis" can only be invented by people who are still uncomfortable with the actual thought of one. The brief becomes a taboo. And things that are sexual are taboos. You never find any fetish site on the 'net dedicated to boxers.
Defenders of boxers say that the sexiness of the underwear is due to the idea of keeping things hidden to leave something for the imagination. I think it's a facade for the sexually repressed. In reality it's the brief that triggers the imagination. It hugs the body like a second skin and accentuates every bulge and crevice and make everything underneath seem bigger and better than they actually are.

One last thought, those Times Square billboard of soccer player Freddie Ljundberg aren't stopping traffic because he's wearing boxers. If he wear wearing boxers in those ads, would they really be causing such a commotion? Or on Travis Fimmel?

I think the "sexy" factor depends on who is actually wearing the boxers or briefs! However, I am not ashamed to say that I really love the sight of "something" sticking out of the opening of a pair of boxers!

the two real problems with briefs are:
1) most guys look really unsightly in briefs. in order to look sexy in briefs (and i am not a fan of muscle bods....i like a man with some husk on him), one really has to have a tight body to look good. tight briefs that push the ripples of fat up and over the elastic band do no one any favors. hence the boxer...perfect for the majority of people who do not have a chiseled body.
2) guys with big balls have a really difficult time in briefs....the boys get all twisted around and i (for one) hate pulling on my balls to rearrange them all day long.

so i just go commando!

yup...i got stuck with more balls and less bat!

GOD I love those pictures of Freddie Ljungberg LOL!

Honestly, I think briefs are much sexier, but boxers are much more comfortable.

But don't you have to really make sure you do a very good job of wiping? I mean, you wouldn't want fudge streaks on your dockers now, would you? biggrin.gif
d.c sports geek
no...i suppose that one has to have excellent hygiene to go commando.
FYI to those thinking of free-balling....once in awhile you will get some chafing down there if you wear tight jeans...501s are the most problematic. beyond that minor detail, the feeling is liberating! if you have not yet, give it a try.

YEP _ THAT IS SO TRUE! Totally turned me off on briefs as I got older- except for extreme winter weather- but then for cold days there are always FLANNEL boxers. Joseph A. Bank brand boxers are the best and most comfortable I have ever found!

I like tight underwear on guys. Boxer breifs are the best -- and hottest (imho)

Remember Woody Harrelson in "White Men Can't Jump" smile.gif

Those boxer briefs are the best, the ones that look like something in between bike shorts and compression shorts, like the "leg" part to just above the knee.

Boxers are too loose. I like seeing guy's bulging goods (which explains all the pictures I've posted over at the "Wrestlers" thread in Hot Jock Talk) and unless you're packing, you won't see a bulge on a dude wearing boxers.

Well not unless if you're this hunk.

But those don't look like underwear, more like shorts
dcbulgefreak
going commando in 501s absolutely does not work.
especially in the winter. the feeling of
those cold metal buttons pressing against "jake and the twins" is highly uncomfortable.

white boxer briefs are my favorite.
Boltergeist
One of my exes got me turned on to boxerbriefs, cause they looked good on him. As for what I wear, it's either them or sometimes nothing.
TC
I don't get how wearing a pair of briefs to bed keeps you warm! I sleep naked all the time unless it is unpractical.

Winter time I go first for FTL boxer-briefs then, as laundry piles up, back to briefs.

Jockstraps for me, like so many others, are a huge draw and I wear one to workout in. My current fave is UnderArmour. Excellent in look and fit.
