Well, tomorrow is the blessed Hallmark holiday - Valentine's Day!! biggrin.gif

Did you egt anything from your boyfriend or partner for Valentine's Day??

Well, I got my boyfriend a 3 disc of hard core trance music from London and he got me a new piercing for my nipple. He's heading to Atlanta this weekend to be w/ friends. (He planned this LONG before we started dating.) And I am here working on Saturday.

Okay ... what about you guys?? biggrin.gif
Boltergeist
I will be Valentines shopping today for my boyfriend. As of now we have nothing planned for tomorrow (I was scheduled to work Saturday til I made a deal on Wednesday to get it off), but that's how we always go. We may be going to Fireball in Chicago or wherever the whim takes us.
MarinerFan
Well we are also celebrating our 7th anniversary. smile.gif smile.gif I got my sweetie a new fancy lens, tripod and bag for his new digital camera he got for Christmas. I also arranged for flowers to be sent to his office today. I am not sure what our plans are my sweetie is keeping it a secret. I suspect we may be flying somewhere tonight, he works for Alaska Airlines.

I hope everyone has a fantabulous Valentines day! smile.gif

Well, I got some roses and chocolate candy sent to me from a certain soldier boy. smile.gif I;m rather surprised about that!

Tomorrow night, though, I will be hanging out with friends for dinner and then 80's Trivial Pursuit! smile.gif WOO-HOO!

We usually don't exchange gifts, just cards. Typically we stay home and cook a nice dinner since the restaurants are so crowded, but this year hubby kind of surprised me by making reservations at a hip new little restaurant that I've been wanting to try. He had to have made the reservations several weeks ago; it's hard to get into the good restaurants on any Saturday night around here, much less on Valentine's day. smile.gif

I've had some horrible Valentine's Days. My paternal side decided not to tell me my Grandma died and her funeral was on Valentine's Day. My maternal Grandma and my Mom told me and I dashed to the funeral the next day completely heartbroken. (My Mom and Dad divorced when I was 2 yrs old. My Grandma was the only link to that family.) When I asked why they didn't tell me, they said they didn't want me to be hurt.

I've also been dumped on Valentine's Day a couple times. Oh well.

I have had a lot of fun on Valentine's too, single. I have caused a lot of trouble on this holiday! biggrin.gif

I agree, to an extent. Tomorrow night, when I go out with friends for dinner, I have finally recreated Rob Thomas' black shirt from the video for "Unwell"...maybe you remember it, it says LOVE ME. Anyway, I always think it's cool to wear black on Valentine's Day.

Happy anniversary, marinerfan. smile.gif My partner and I will be busy entertaining guests this weekend. We both have Monday off so we may celebrate then. We usually spend a quiet time at home and maybe a movie. Happy Valentines Day to you all.
Gaga4Gaby
If by "honey" you mean "imaginary boyfriend," then he got me a dozen roses, fabulous jewelry, and he's planning a romantic dinner by candlelight.

Otherwise, I'm playing tennis tomorrow night. It's okay. I can buy my own damn chocolate any time I want! tongue.gif

Happy Anniversary to Denver Fan!!!! smile.gif

Thanks Jorel!!!

I actually made my card this year, it is almost impossible to find a card that is for both Valentines day and anniversary. I have seen them but they are usually few and far between.

Hmmmmmm. Let's see. What on the long list of Valentines Day did my sweetie get me.

Flowers? Nope!

Chocolate? Nope!

Jewellery? HAH!! er, um I mean NOPE!

Take me out to dinner? NOPE!

Take me out at all? NOPE!!

Make passionate love to me? NOPE!!

So what will I be doing valentines day?

Morning Laundry

Early afternoon Grocery Shopping

Late Afternoon Sleeping

Dinner Salad and Prime Rib

Evening Watch rental from Blockbuster, then go on the pc.

Ain't 23.5 years of married life Grand???? (I think I need to rent a muscle stud for valentines day). Is it okay to buy yourself a Valentines day gift?

I'm going to Phoenix to spend v-day with one of my old college roommates. She recently broke up with her bf so I'm going to be her date. I may finally get to meet PhillyFan. eek!

However, at the same time, I'm trying to reconcile with my ex. Sunday would have been 5 years for us, but last summer we kind of separated. I'm leaving him roses and his v-day present as a surprise for him when he gets home from work tonight. I'll see what happens when I return from Phoenix on Monday. You guys gotta cross your fingers for me!!

I got a new bottle of lotion from my "honey" I call Lefty and a new box of tissues from my other "honey" I call Righty.

I'll be working Valentine's night so even if one of my many admirers wanted to take me out, I'd be unfortunately unavailable.

People who get Valentine's gifts should be added to the People Who Should Be Shot thread! wink

Happy V Day everybody!!! biggrin.gif

Mariner, right back at ya....Happy Anniversary! I gave up looking so I just got two cards, one for the morning (Anniversary) and one for dinner (Valentines). I can't wait to see what I get. Even if it's nothing, I'll just be happy we are still together, and look forward to the many years to come.

That Josh Gracin is such a wonderful Imaginary Boyfriend to you! You're so lucky, Gaga!!!

Happy Anniversay Marinerfan! Have fun on your trip. My sweetheart is away on a trip on V-day, but we're meeting up in Portland on Sunday for just the day to do some sales tax free shopping.

For some reason, Valentine's Day has become just another day for me. Maybe it's because of all the overkill in the retail stores and everything being red. The best part about Valentine's day? The day after when all the candy are on sale! Out with the red and in with the green of St. Patrck's day.

Anyway, I don't need one special day to tell my sweetie that I love him. To me, everyday we're together is Valentine's day becaue that's how much I love him.

There is a poignant little column about Valentine's Day in the Kansas City Star's teen section today, written by a gay teenager. Since you have to register at their site, I'll post the whole column here:

NO LOVE FOR ME
Judging by the marketing, Valentine's Day is designed ‘For Anyone' but gay couples

By JOSH KAUFFMAN TeenStar

QUOTE
After glancing through several displays of Valentine's Day cards, I was still empty-handed.

So I walked the aisle again reading the signs above each card aloud:

“For Wife…” “For Husband…” “For Spouse…” “For Anyone…”

“For Anyone.”

Is that the selection of cards meant for me?

Not once did I find a card labeled From Boyfriend to Boyfriend, or For Life Partner.

The only cards reserved for my relationship do not have a meaningful, well-written message on the inside. Instead I am left with generic cards that simply read “Happy Valentine's Day” meant “For Anyone.”

Is there a spot for same-sex couples in this consumer-driven holiday?

Reviewing the recent holiday commercials in my head, I realize I won't be among those sending or receiving any flower arrangements, nor will I be showing off a new diamond-studded heart-shaped necklace. Thinking again about those commercials, I don't recall even one example of a happy same-sex couple celebrating Valentine's Day.

The Web site About.com tells us American men with female partners plan to spend $60-$140 each Valentine's Day.

How much money will a GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered) person spend on her or his partner this year? We may never know unless companies decide to market to the gay community.

Being a gay teenager provides even more obstacles when the most romantic day of the year rolls around.

Is there a restaurant in the suburbs where my date and I can have an intimate dinner without being stared at or being the topic of hushed gossip? Can I sneak a quick kiss without anyone noticing? No one should have to ask themselves these questions.

Rather than feeling on display in the suburbs, many same-sex couples travel to the Plaza or Westport for their Valentine dinners. These are the same areas where it is not uncommon to see two males or two females walking hand in hand.

But why should we be forced to segregate ourselves from where we live, just so we feel comfortable spending time in public with the person we love?

Valentine's Day is all about showing those in your life that you love them. Does it really matter that the person I am dating happens to be the same gender as I am? The truth is, it shouldn't make a difference.

Perhaps in the coming years, Valentine's Day advertisements will show a happy gay couple enjoying a candlelit dinner. Then will it be acceptable to celebrate my relationship just like everyone else?

After all, it's only love.

I just went shopping for gifts for my partner during lunch. It's going to be a "Queer Eye" Valentines for him. I got him the new CD and book, some chocolate and a card. He's had a rough couple of weeks and is reading to go out and get crazy drunk tomorrow night...

So, you know what that means...Wild, monkey sex when we get home!! Woohoo!!

I just found out that there is a Gay and Lesbian organization in the rural area where we live, and they're having a dance tomorrow night. I think it's mainly lesbians, but hopfully we won't be the "token" gay men.

Looks like I gotta convince his lordship to put on his jeans, polish his head, and come out with me.

maybe if I bribe him?

For me..I got a NHL Brodueur All Star Eastern Conference jersey

From me.. gotta get to work on that. Looks like I'm losing an ebay auction frown

My partner knows how I feel about most holidays (I hate 'em), so he better not be thinking about getting me anything. Our first VD he did get me a super-goopy lovey-dovey Hallmark card as a gag, though.

He has arranged for us to see Rufus Wainwright tonight, and I never turn down an opportunity to hear live music. The tickets were free, which is good because he knows I'd be upset if he spent money on me for this ridiculous holiday. If he wants to buy me something special he can wait until my (30th) birthday in April.

ung
well... turning the table on this thread.... for Valentine's Day, what did I get my boyfriend of a year and a half?

I broke up with him.

I remained silent and endured many issues that I didn't wanna address during the holidays (you know... that almost two month long season from Thanksgiving to New years) but as soon as the new year broke, I had a talk with him and realized that for my sanity and self respect, leaving him was the healthiest thing to do.

the week before Valentine's Day? Sure! Why not?

Why fake it through a holiday for those who love and respect each other? I figured a Valentines day alone with dignity intact is infinitely better than a V-Day with no self respect.
Joe in Philly
Sorry to hear it, ung. You're welcome to join the OOVH Party. wink

And to the prior post: sorry about your man's hip injury but at least you still have him to some extent, so I'm afraid you're disqualified -- besides, you also have that whole Tonkastud and Trevorhunk thing that we all enjoy so, or is it Tonkahunk and Trevorstud? biggrin.gif

Good omen. I did the very same thing on VD 1985! We had been together for almost 4 years.

Im now with Hubby #2 (and last, God willing) going on 19 years. biggrin.gif

Still don't know what I'm getting to go with the snow in Dallas.
ung
Just curious.... why did you pick Valentine's Day to break up with your boyfriend?

Like I said, for me... after the post New year's "we can work this out" conversation, I realized I couldn't go through with any more BS and didn't wanna pretend to be lovey dovey through this particular holiday.

Why did you?
HornFan
Ung,

We had a temporary (about two weeks) separation (his idea) a few months beforehand and had been working on our deteriorating relationship after that. He wanted to party & do drugs, I didn't. He was unfaithful, I wasn't. It continued to be very rocky. Christmas was our last BIG try at making it work, but after the "luster" of the holidays and time off work wore off, I knew it was over, but just couldn't bring myself to put an end to it and be a Divorcee. He was my first (everything) and I felt I was a failure at age 25. sad.gif

I guess the VD Holiday made me realize I just couldn't continue to live that way for the rest of my life. I had even bought him a gift (high-end shaving cream, card & candy), but after going through those motions I just said "it's over" and moved in with friends. I think it was based on pride on my part in the end because I felt betrayed and wanted to be the one to end it.

I had to have an old and sick dog put down on VD in 1991, but other than that, they've been very happy ever since.

We haven't opened our cards and gifts today (although I do see a box of chocolates smile.gif ), but were up very early for a Saturday to enjoy the snow. This is the prettiest snow I've ever witnessed in my 22 years in Dallas. It's not often we see such a "sticky snow" that totally covers the bare trees into a thing of beauty and actually makes the evergreen trees pale in comparision. I didn't know snow could stick to little branches in heights 2 to 3 inches like this! eek! It's finally getting so heavy that it's falling off, but it's STILL snowing.

Happy Valentines Day Everybody!
Jason Cottrell
We had a great Holiday. We went to the Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus, Then went to The Melting Pot Restaraunt (Fondue Rest.) which took about three hours to eat (at 75.00 per/person it was worth it and if you have one in your area definately go!), then did some shopping in the area, stopped off for a couple bottles of wine and are eating $45.00 worth of chocolate my boyfriend got me from Godiva (I love Godiva especially the chocolate covered strawberries). We are just hanging out together (us the cat and dog) this weekend. Now the 4 year anniversary is less than a month away.

My Valentine's Day sucked. I did have fun working at rainbow road though. We sold roses for the first time. It was cool. 1/2 dozen for $17 and a dozen for $31. Not bad at all!!

I did go out that night. You know when you go out, you can get a vibe of the crowd. The vibe I got was horny and desparate and it freaked me out. One of the guys I know had his boyfriend out. BF is a cutie and they were talking about going to Tiffany's in South Beach and where my friend bought a key ring that doubles as a prince albert. Feigning interest is a speciality of mine. I was just bored to tears. The guy dancing is hot, but was boring when he stripped. Oh well.

One of my old friends was in town from San Diego. Aaron did bulked up, but the front side of him was buff, but his back side was flat as a pancake. He also hadf a gut too. Aaron was drunk off of his ass looking for GHB and K. I strongly told him to never do GHB and K. He said I shouldn't worry and i didn't know what I Was talking about. Hell, he is moving to NYC and he is that messy. Oh well. I warned him.

So, I went home early and watched South Park movie and went to bed.

That was my Valentine's Day.

I got a Nagami kumquat tree. I already have a Meiwa kumquat. I had been wanting the Nagami kumquat for a while and my partner/husband thought this was a good time to surprise me with one. It was a wonderful surprise and I can't wait for the fruit to get ripe. biggrin.gif I got him a Robocut. He loves his Flowbee and after 10 years of use it broke. I thought the Robocut looked much easier to use so I got that one. Not sure yet if the Robocut is easier to use. We still have 30 days to test it out. I know, I know... what weird gifts, but we have been together for 12 years. We are kinda over the teddy bear phase. biggrin.gif

I've never heard of the Robocut.
