Full Version: Your Super Bowl experience

I watched the game with a room full of gay guys and we all went crazy at the end with the final field goal. We spent the earlier part of the game pickin the hottest guys (Vinatieri won hands down) GREAT SUPER BOWL-What was your Super Bowl experience like?
Jim Allen
I watched the game with Jim and Cyd and about 20 other gay guys (and our friend Kathy who showed up late in the 4th quarter). Lots of good food, snarky comments about everything from Wynona's dress to Pat's incompetence to how great the Pats D was in the first half. Half the guys left at the half but that was cool because it left the real football fans room to scream and jump around during/after AV's great FG kick.

Hated with the fire of a 1000 suns Mariah Carey's SSB. Just sing the song, for god's sake, you're not singing Norma. And U2 rocked; they erased from my memory the scary images of Diana Ross from about 5 years ago.

I've always watched it with large groups, but this year it was my sis in law's b-day so I had plans before and after the game..I watched it at home with my roomie, who was sick so she didn't go to the party she was supposed to, and we had a great time because it was such a great game...I practically lost it when the Rams tied it, and I thought the tide had finally turned but...luckily, I was wrong....I can't remember another Super Bowl as fun or as tense to watch...and I thought Mariah did a fine job except for her little chirping moment...it sounded like a bird had flown into the microphone...

I arrived at this get-together about 2 hours before kick-off. Just in time for the whole pre-game tributes, concerts etc. Remember when pre-game was 15 minutes long?

So there are about 6 guys (all straight) hanging at a house in the Valley, BBQ on fire, and the game begins. We make comments about who's gonna win, which commercials sucked, and what half time show we were going to watch.

Interest began to wane near halftime..guys went to check on the BBQ, some guys went to play basketball. Turns out I was the only one left to watch the Playboy Bunnies in Fear Factor. Ironic, eh?

Third quarter, I was getting a bit woozy from the half a bag of chips I ate so I decided to go to El Pollo Loco all the way in Reseda (the party was in Encino). I got back and all the guys were on the couch eating ice cream.

Fourth quarter--everything changed. Everyone woke up. We were on the edge of our seats. And then THE field goal. What a game.

Turns out there was one lone Pats guy. He wouldn't let us forget our "predictions." I drove the Pats man home and later found out that chump took my Barenaked Ladies CD! I'll get it back.

Next up--USC vs UCLA.

I drove an hour to the closest gay bar in the state. They had a whole pot luck dinner layed out. I was rooting for the Pats so I imediately had a big P drawn in my hand and received free shots of Pucker for every time the Pats scored after that.

Most of the game consisted of talking and getting to know a bunch of guys that I had never met. (I actually got hit on, which never happens to me) Then the half time show came around, I totally missed Mariah, but was impressed with U2. The lesbians at the end of the bar were way out numbered (they were the only 2 women, and the only 2 people rooting for the Rams). They were crowned the ones to serve up the shots for us Pats fans for every score.

When the final kick won the game the whole room went wild and one guy was so happy there was talk of a naked hot tub party at his house.

After all the hype, I left the bar with a great guy, and didn't have to find a hotel to stay in. That's kind of a first, me not going home alone.

Over all, a great game, good food, good company and I got a little. (for those of you who read the evangilist thread) Thank God for the superbowl.

Had friends over. About 8 total, I think. All gay guys, 1 str8 guy, 1 lesbian, and 1 bisexual woman. Good mix! I made puppy chow snack from a recipe a good friend emailed me. Chips and dips otherwise. Ordered pizza. Usually everyone leaves my Super Bowl parties after halftime, but of course this year, everyone was there till the bitter end. Great to have a good game for a change.

That's great, Bobcat, I can just picture it -- the scene at the bar in... Bozeman? Not the part afterwards -- I'm much too modest for that! (But way to go, anyway, young'un)

Me, my butt was right here at Command Central, with the PC, tv and phone, totally virtual, all systems go... Hmmm, is that progress?

What's the drive like between Helena and Bozeman? PS- After 20 shots, it's a good thing you didn't have to get all the way back home.

I'm with you Jim Allen. Just sing the damn song Mariah. This year was uneventful for me. Just me and the dog. And she was more interested in the food than the game. Now last year I went to a buddys house and watched. We picked our team and whoever won the game, that person got to top. I picked the ravens. He was glad. Although I don't recommend using nacho cheese dip during foreplay. It's just not worth it.

8 guys, with myself as the only informed sports fan. One smart ass said I should relpace Pat Summerall, but I chalk that up to the fact that I knew more about football then everyone in the crowd combined.
It actually disappointed me that I could not rummage together a group of educated gay sports fans for the game.
They were content to critique pre-game, commercials and half time festivities.
Still, even this crowd was stirred by the outcome. Part of me wonders whether they were simply excited that there was no OT.
Personally, I love OT games...and I would love the game to keep going on as long as possible.

Think I gained 10 pounds from all the beer and fatty foods that the posse prepared for the game.

Actually Redsoxbreath, the bar I went to was in Butte! Can you believe it. A gay bar in Butte. Which means that I crossed 2 passes to get there. LOL

If anyone gets to Butte Montana the bar's name is Snookums. On Harrison ave. Very different bar. Nice people though.
