OK, so not sports related per se, but I am looking for a little help. If I can't find it here, then I give up. Where does a gay guy who digs sports and doesn't drink or do drugs meet like minded guys to date? Seriously, I am officially over my limit of cute str8 friends to hang with. Done. I really could use some advise. I had this huge bloodletting of a coming out that only by the grace of God I survived...so now what? Anyone? Advise?

The gay sports leagues were very important to me in my coming out process. I met many life long friends and had a few romantic interests along the way. I haven't heard much about Detroit being an active spot for gay sports groups, but this site can probably fill you in. Toronto has lots to do. Best of luck to you!

Your best bet might be online if you don't know of anything in Detroit. Have you tried searching the Outsports Clubhouse to see if there is anyone in your area?

Though it's been more than 20 years since I lived in the Detroit area, Palmer Park was always an area where gay guys met up to play volleyball. I know that I made some life long friends back in the late 1970s when I played. Don't know if there's a group around any more, but you might cruise on by that area (assuming it's still an open park-like area) and see what's up on Sundays in particular.

It can't be Bluebird, PF. Birdyboy has already made more sports-related posts in his total of 6 than Bluebird did in his thousands of posts. Plus Birdyboy says he doesn't use drugs.

Anyway Birdyboy, the advice about joining some of the local gay sports leagues is the best I can offer as well. When I mved to NYC after college, the first like-minded friends I met were through the softball, volleyball and bowling leagues. Not verybody in these leagues are sports fans per se, but some are. Detroit does have a really strong and well-run gay softball league, sponsored by various bars. I've met A LOT of decent guys thru friends of mine from Detroit who played in it. Check it and the other local sportslinks out, now that the season's getting started. Good luck!

Guys, thanks for the advise. I have considered the sports leagues, the problem is I already play in a golf league and I try to limit my league activities to one per season. My work schedule sometimes requires entertaining in the evenings and I've found I'm not always able to make the time commitment to a league. But I could certainly go watch a game or two and maybe sub from time to time. Thanks again....Not sure who Bluebird is, but it's not me. Birdieboy is a reference to the aforementioned golf league.
