There is this pretty cool website called
Gasbuddy that I saw on the local news last night. You can check out the lowest and highest prices for lots of major cities all over the country. You can also sign up to be a gas price reporter. Pretty cool site.
I filled up my tank yesterday and it cost me $25. I paid $1.87 per gallon for regular. I am in Orlando, FL. What have you paid this week?

Gadbear. Thank you. Pretty cool site. I just checked and the cheapest gas in Spokane is at Costco at 2.08 a gallon. In California its way higher I believe, but for us thats way high.

I had to fill up twice this week. 1st time was Sunday night on the Mass Pike. $1.92/gallon. Second time was this AM and I paid $1.97.
I hear people are paying $3/gallon out in California already. eek! I'm so not looking forward to driving in LA next month.

When are people going to realize that if you live or visit any major city, you DON'T need a car? You think you do, but you really don't.

Prices went up 12 cents overnight here. Yesterday it was $1.87 most places for regular. This morning on my way to work it was $1.99. And my Volvo is a sensitive little thing; it wants 91 octane which is now $2.19.

I filled up the loser cruiser last night at 89.9 per litre. Change to US gallons, use the conversion and I beleive it works around 2.50 per US gallon. But our pumps don't go over 99.9 per litre, so they'll have to start selling by by the half litre.
And Canada EXPORTS oil. We don't import any. Why the F**k we have high prices is beyond me, other than the oil companies get to charge the market price per barrell, instead of a set cost plus over their production costs, which is what most people here want.

At the station I pass on the way to the freeway each morning, premium is now.....$2.99.9 a gallon!! Fortunately, I usually fill up near work in downtown LA, where prices are lower.

I just paid 2.27/gallon. There is no self serve gas in Oregon. It cost over $30 to fill up my car. I'm so glad now that I didn't buy the Turbo model which takes Premium ($2.47/gallon). Or the larger SUV I was eyeing last year. One of my co-workers has a 35 gal gas tank and cringes now when he has to fill up. eek! eek! eek!

It's around $2.15 to $2.25 a gallon at most places in Seattle. But almost everywhere else in the world pays WAY more than we do per gallon. And I think that the prices have to hit about $3 before they reach record US levels, adjusted for inflation. So let's all relax a little, try to drive less, and stop buying gas-hogs. (And how about some tax incentives to buy hybrids?)

Anyone else notice that gas is going up...up...way up, and away..again? I just got back from filling my half tank on my car, I buy the middle octane gas, which my car needs, and its up to $2.01 a gallon here now. I swear its gone up from about $1.87 a gallon just 2 weeks ago. What up??? What a rip!

Is that what the manufacturer recommends or what your experience has shown?
I by the cheapest 90% of the time but get an expensive high octane brand occassionally just to see if the mileage is affected differently as it ages.

Oy! In September I retired my Honda Civic (with nearly 180,000 miles) for an upscale German car. Since then not only has gas gone up like crazy, but I also have to use the super premium. So instead of $1.40 a gallon, I'm paying around $2.30 a gallon now. (and with a lower mpg)

Actually I want a Focus ZX3 with Ford's hydrogen ICE built for the model-U platform. I could have it "yesterday".
If I had access to the technology, I could convert my Saturn Coupe to get 1000 miles on a battery charge.
So, with a litte physicist Kung-Fu,
this car could be a lot of fun. Maybe they would sponsor me by providing a vehicle to drive to bike races.
The oil economy has been outdated for quite some time now. As far as the rednecking and horsepower goes,
here's a little trail food for thought. [ April 01, 2005, 10:08 AM: Message edited by: Erik G ]

This morning gas went up here 8 cents a gallon! This is obscene and insane. I thought Greenspan talked most of the skittishness out of the market yesterday. Big help it was. NOT!! Where is this going to end. I have been buying the 89 octane because my car is older and runs better on it, but I can't afford spikes of 8 cents a day like this!

Okay. I have no sympathies for any of you. I filled up the truck this morning, and gas was at .925 per litre. That $3.51 per US gallon.
I put in $60.00 worth and it still didn't fill it.

Actually - if my math is right 92.5 cents per litre Canadian dollars = approx 76 cents per litre US. 1.00CA$ = 0.82US$.
And 1 US gallon = 3.7854 litres. So 0.76 x 3.7854 = approx. $2.88US per US gallon. So not as bad as you think in comparison, although still quite pricey.
And still less in real dollar terms compared to what people paid for gas in the 1970's.

Heard on the local news tonight that gas in Washington State now is in record territory. They talked to a local station owner who said he really isn't sure when this may end either. There is talk it could go to $3.00 a gallon, possibly. The next factor will be the companies having to pass the price of gasoline on to the consumers. Namely the truck haulers and all. So groceries will be going up, and just about everything else will be going up as well.

A couple nights ago, CBC reported that the average Canadian price for 'basic' gasoline is 93 cents per litre, the highest on record. In Vancouver, Whitehorse and Halifax, the price has jumped past $1.00 (and yet in Abbotsford, just east of Vancouver, the price was only 78 cents). Compared to most of the country I guess I'm getting off lucky, although the price is rising here like everywhere else. A couple weeks ago, the price in Calgary rose to 86.4 cents per litre (approx $2.70 US per gallon).
All gas stations here have a strange marketing practice of prominently posting a price that is higher than the actual price. Large signs proclaim that the price is 89.9 cents per litre, and then there is a smaller sign which reads 'all customers save 3.5 cents per litre at pump' (regardless of whether it is self- or full-service), hence 86.4 cents. I suppose the idea is to dupe us into believing we are getting some kind of benevolent discount from the seller. I don't know if this practice is unique to my region...do gas stations in other cities do this too?
The cheaper gas in the US will be more than offset by the cost of passports, which all Canadians will soon be required to have when travelling south of the border due to a new US security law. Although I have a passport, there are a lot of people who don't.

Gas still going way way up here. Now the current price at my local Conoco is $2.39/$2.49/$2.59 a gallon. I have never seen it this high. Also worth noting, I see where the west coast again leads the country in gas prices? Can somebody please explain exactly why this is?? puckman1, I believe the high price of California (and other West Coast states) gas has a lot to do with state taxes and the reformulated gasoline that is required there. It also has to do with how far you live from a refinery. New Jersey and Texas have some of the cheapest gas in the country due to the close proximity to the oil refineries near the coasts.
