Full Version: Viagra at the gym

Lately it has occurred to me that many older men are taking viagra or cialis or whatever before coming to the gym, and then hang out in the steamroom showing the world the wonders of modern medicine. I just want to tell them to cover up. At first I wondered why there were so many older men sporting wood, and then it came to me: viagra. And it seems to not be just in the steamroom, because they parade around the locker room also. It's inappropriate. I'm happy they can get the engine going again, but please, some discretion.

You are too modest. Maybe it's you?
batboy
Are you sure it's Viagra or maybe they're just happy to see you. wink

BUAHAHAHA... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Shore, have you considered going to a 'straight' gym, or at least a less frisky one?
bobby78751
Or maybe you might want to think about going to one with age limitations so the old guys won't be around poppin' the pills. smile.gif
shore
It is a straight gym, as far as straight gyms go in NYC and the upper east side. I tell you, they come in just ready to show everything and then do so. And I'm talking about men well into their sixties and maybe seventies. "One last time for the troops..." or something they must be thinking. Viagra has given them a new lease on their cruising life.
Gaga4Gaby
I go to the gym on the Upper East Side. Well, "go the the gym" is a relative term. BUT ...

They shut down our steamroom for health violations the day after two old guys were in there frolicking together! That was this summer. Not sure if it's back in business or not ... maybe I should actually go to the gym to find out. ha ha.
Allen
Okay, when I see that happen at the gym, I'm the one that's loud and yells, Goddamnit! Can't you two do that at home? I'm royally pissed off when I see that at the gym. I don't care if they are young, old, hot, ugly - don't do that at the gym. Period.

Although I think an exception could be made if they're really, really hot.

 I'm with you Allen - When I go to the gym it is to work out. There are enough places around for frolicking that they don't have to take up the gym and every square inch of the back rooms and drive those of us who legitimately use it out.

I have no problem with telling some of these jerks off - VERY LOUDLY. ;->

sad.gif One old guy was so persistant a couple years ago in the steam room, that I chased him out into the front desk area ( We were both wearing nothing but towels- chuckle;->), throwing water bottles and anything else I could grab easily. biggrin.gif

As I recall, some of the other guys working out started to applaud... Chuckle - wink

After a few tense moments, the management apologised to me for the problem - after I told them what had happened - and I became very good friends with the managers.

Okay, I'm not really talking about frolicking in the steanroom, but really just parading around with this rod hanging hard as if to show it off. And not young boy standing up straight, but all their manhood just hanging there. Crazy.

You could probably turn that into a full-time job in Manhattan! SOme of the clubs are nothing more than bathhouses. I've never talked to a straight guy about it but I'm awfully embarassed by the constant parade from the steam to the sauna.

Am I to assume from the tone of the discussion that it would be okay if they were young and hot? (Only Allen has disavowed this distinction and said it's inappropriate for everybody. Btw, you speak of the gym as if it's your holy temple.)

Almost every post has mentioned the age of the guys or the fact that they are "old". Thank god none of us are ever going to age or get "old". rolleyes.gif

Whether this is appropriate behavior is entirely separate from the age of the people involved. I'm sure at 35 I'm considered "old" to some people, but it really has no bearing on whether my sexual activities are appropriate.

Now on to the boner-having-old-man bashing. . .

Okay everyone, I don't care how old you are, don't be a jackhole and jerk off in the steam room at the gym ... PERIOD!

Go the the bathhouse and get your rocks off!

When I worked at Ballys at one of hte gyms in Minneapolis, I was the only openly gay employee and when some retard (and I do apologize to all mentally handicapped people reading this) gets caught in the shower or stream room, it reflected bad on me because I'm the gay one.

So, please, everyone ... if you feel the need to jerk off in the steam room or sauna at your local gym, please towel off, pop in a Falcon or Titan video and let your juices flow. Thank you.

Back on the lithium, Allen. If you read my post, I complimented you on being the only one to state it was inappropriate behavior for everyone regardless of age.

And I did not advocate jerking off at the gym. I mean--what happens if the lube makes you drop a 90-lb. weight on your foot? eek!
Allen
When I go on a rant, I go on a rant, don't I? wink

(It's a good thing I don't post more in the politics section. Oy!! biggrin.gif )

I don't give a damn wether they are 19 or 90, Eye Candy or Troll; The public gym is not the appropriate place for that conduct.

Fantasies aside (And admit it we have all had them) it is inappropriate, un-hygenic, and way to public. Further it pisses off everyone else who is there for a more legitimate reasons and find themselves unable to use the shower/steamroon/sauna/whatever due to your thoughtlessness.

This is not to say I haven't met more than a few great guys at my gym - its a GREAT spot to meet new guys who might have something remotely in common with you; but take the overly intimate PDA's somewhere else (There are certainly enough private clubs and bath houses where such behavior is considered derigeur).

ITJock, I agree with your most recent post. However, the question I have is why did you start your example with "One old guy was so persistant a couple years ago in the steam room . . . "?

Obviously it meant something that he was old or you wouldn't have included it. You didn't say "this black guy" or "this blond guy" or "this short guy".
batboy
You know, I don't think there has been one person posting here saying it's OK to cruise the steam rooms at your gym, so I'm not sure why this thread has gone on for so long. And I don't know why some posters are talking as if the gym lurkers are here at Outsports.
Allen
Maybe they are & they are not fessing up to it. Hmm ... smile.gif

It was a constant problem at NYSC's Chelsea location. The sauna was actually shut down several times by order of the health department. I've now switched to the new David Barton Gym down the block. They actually have a "monitor" - a big muscular guy who stands on patrol at the end of the shower room, right outside the steamroom and sauna. Of course, it might carry more credibility if he wasn't wearing a skin-tight t-shirt that said "Look Better Naked."

It was descriptive, if he had been any of the others I would have so stated. If he had been young then I would have said 'this one young kid'. No Bias was intended.

I am an equal opportunitty hater.

That's too funny! For some reason I have this image of the wet area "monitor" being like those restroom attendants they have at some restaurants. You know, the kind that squirt the soap on your hands and hand you a paper towel?

But what's mildly disturbing to me is people who shave their body parts at the gym. Shaving your face is fine (the gym provides shaving cream and disposable rasors). And I don't mind if bald guys shave their heads at the sink. But chests, armpits, backs, and crotches... shouldn't that be done at home? And please shave in the sink area... not ths steamroom, and not the showers.

Oh, and to get back to the topic of the thread... the old guys at my do seem to like to parade around the locker room naked. Mercifully, at my gym they are not sporting wood.

And how do these men with the Viagra do their workouts? Wouldn't that thing get in the way? biggrin.gif

Yes, the topic really is about the phenomenon of viagra at the gym. And I don't think it always is about jerking off in the steam room--it's like it's just for display sometimes. And I mention in my posts about the age of the people, because in general it is older men who are taking viagra.

I would think so. eek! eek!

Anyway, if shore's gym isn't particularly cruisy, I'd guess that these guys are "showing off" (in the "look what I got" sense of the term ... [insert real age] going on 13, or maybe 7, if you get my drift) rather than cruising. They're probably the type who brag to each other every February about getting their "gift" early from their wives. rolleyes.gif
theodoresdaddy
my gym has signs that spell out if you get busted fooling around in the sauna or locker room or whatever, you will lose your membership, and yes, it is a gay gym

that's one of the reasons I like it--I go to work out--the sex club is a few blocks away if I want to play later
