The Lions also came out with new black jerseys. There was an article in the USA Today or something about how teams are having all these different uniforms to sell more jerseys. Several MLB teams have 6 jersey combinations, when it has traditionally been just 2 (home & away).

NFL teams are allowed to wear the "third jersey" for two games per year (at least that was the rule last year). Of course it's all for money.
