Here come the lawsuits. I'm sure.

The Daily News misprinted one number in their dumb "Scratch and Match" game and as a result hundreds of people who thought they won $100K were only given a lame apology for the newspaper's error. Hundreds of people showed up at the Daily News building today and started marching in protest. LOL.

This was an irresponsible error by the Daily News and I doubt all these hard-working low to middle income New Yorkers are going to let them off the hook that easy. So my feeling is heeeeeeeeere come the lawsuits.

There's probably something in the rules to cover something like that. Perhaps they'll offer some consolation prizes in a settlement.

I read about that in the NY Times today. I'd be mad, too, and I don't think it's fair to dismiss these people with just an apology. You're using this game to boost sales of your weekday and weekend paper - you better be prepared to deliver on your obligations. This is the second time there's been an error like this ... it happened in 1999, too. The circumstances were different - that time it was the paper's fault and this time it's the company that administers the game - but there should be some kind of system to double check when you're promising that kind of money as an incentive to buy the Daily News.

No one should have to call the newspaper each day the numbers are posted to make sure they're all accurate. And this is essentially what the Daily News is asking people to do. "Okay people. Here are your numbers. But give us a call to make sure we didn't make an error before you start doing celebration cartwheels".

Imagine if we had to call those auditing firms each time after the Lotto numbers were drawn. "Hey, are you sure these are the right numbers?"
