Kraft Foods is launching a new product called Trolli Road Kill Gummi Candy.

Doing my best Homer Simpson-Oooooh cherry road kill chicken!

QUOTE
The fruity-flavored Trolli Road Kill Gummi Candy -- in shapes of partly flattened snakes, chickens and squirrels -- fosters cruelty toward animals, according to the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

\"It sends the wrong message to children, that it's OK to harm animals. And that's the wrong message, especially from a so-called wholesome corporation like Kraft,\" said society spokesman Matthew Stanton.
Yummy, yummy, yummy I got road kill in my tummy!

I cannot believe that there are people in this world who have nothing better to do than protest the release of some "roadkill" gummi candy for kids. I know everyone has issues that are close to their hearts and I am certainly not one to condone cruelty to animals, but c'mon, get a life.

I am more worried that in order for these kids to emulate this animal cruelty and create "roakill" they would have to be driving cars. Where are the auto safety experts protesting this candy saying it will promote children getting behind the wheel trying to run down animals? Think about the rash of children driving accidents.

[Mrs. Lovejoy] Won't somebody, PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN! [/Mrs. Lovejoy]

Taking tongue out of cheek, most road safety experts say it is better to hit a small animal in the road than to try to avoid them. A great number of accidents are caused when drivers suddenly break or swerve to avoid hitting an animal.

Wait just a minute here, while I make my "there's something very wrong here" face. These incensed folk are all hot & bothered about the roadkill version of gummi candy but were fine when said candy merely represented bears, worms, snakes, or fish--without tire tracks? Aren't all animals worth protecting, even if they haven't had the indignity of being run over? biggrin.gif

Gummi bears are my absolute favorite sweet treat and I'm a bit of a purist. Just give me the plain old bears, none of the numerous reincarnations of the confection.

What harm are the animals in regular gummi candy? So should we also ban animal crackers. This candy made light of animals getting run over. I can't believe a company as large as Kraft didn't run some focus groups to see how negatively this product would be perceived.

But doesn't matter they pulled the product per MSNBC today!
