in a game of firsts, six astros pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter against the (how the) mighty (have fallen) yankees. this is a record for number of pitchers combining for a no-hitter. four pitcher no-hitters have been thrown twice. in the astro effort, no pitcher went longer than 2 2/3 innings. at first glance of the the box score, seeing all those pitchers with short stints on the mound, one would have thought the yanks won in a blowout.
another record was broken, too. this is the first time the bronx bombers have been no-hit in 45 years, a major league record.
a record night for baseball! will it put the steinbrenner over the top?

Best Day Ever for out of town Red Sox fan. While the Sox are beating up on the Cards 13 -1, with hits by EVERYBODY, airing on ESPN, the hated Yankees are over on the deuce getting no-hit by the Astros. I was literally jumping up and down last night. And to top it off, Pedro pitched three scoreless innings.

In addition to the front-page story and photograph in the New York Times, today's crossword has a clue "Perfectly pitched," for which the answer is "NO HIT."
What a sweet coincidence!
