Oakland Raider defensive lineman Darryl Russell, already serving a one year suspension for using Ecstasy, has been arrested on suspicion of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman. The Sacramento Bee reports there may be up to 17 additional sexual related charges. I'll bet Gruden wishes he'd gone to Tampa!

I'm not a lawyer but how can someone be charged with so many things in just one incident?

I wonder if they recovered evidence from other incidents, i.e. video tapes?

For those who may have forgotten, Russell was ALREADY suspended by the NFL for ALL of next season following his third failed "illegal substance" test in December....after reading the accounts of his latest transgression, it looks like Russell will be gone from the league for MUCH longer than one year....if these allegations turn out to be true (and the evidence certainly appears to be overwhelming so far) that he slipped "something" into his "girlfriend's" drink and then he and several "friends" proceeded to sexually assault her while she was in a semi-conscious state he should be locked away for a long, long time....sounds like he borrowed a substance from former teammate Sebastian Janikowski if you recall one of the numerous charges brought against the kicker last year (which he was acquitted for ).

Johnnie Cochran did the "impossible" when he got a double-murderer acquitted but it sounds like Russell may need David Copperfield to get out of this one.

Yes, there was video tape.

Court denies Russell's request for reduced bail
